1 Schuyler Chamber of Commerce Weekly Update ~ September 3, 2014 Thanks to a GREAT Community! What a great Labor Day Weekend we had! So many fun events occurred, none of which could have happened without all of o the effort put forward from volunteers and donations from people like YOU. The Chamber After Hours Party in the Park was such a fun night. Yes, Nebraska weather forced the party indoors, but Luu at the Schuyler Golf Club didn t bat an eye in accommodating us! Thank you so much for the hospitality! Alegent Health went above and beyond by provided the great food; the pulled pork wass a big hit. What a great night to kick off the fun weekend! We were fortunate enough to have great weather for the children s parade and games and it was a great success due all the help from volunteers! Thank you to Barb Pokorny, John Sayer, John Rice, David Hild, Connie Peters, Chris Langemeier, Lora Johnson, and David Johnson. For your time and services to make it such a fun day for the kids! Thank you to all the children & parents who entered the parade. Alegent Creighton Health Hospital, Cargill, Keep Schuyler Beautiful, Schuyler Public Library, Ultimate Image, Anytime Fitness, Schuyler Fire & Rescue, and Tobacco Free Nebraska all ralliedd to bring a variety of fun games and activities out forr the kids. Thank all of you so much for making the morning a great success! The day continued with preparation for the Concert & Beer Garden Saturday night. Also, a big thanks goes out all the businesses who donated to Saturday night. 2 Schuyler Red Out Football The Schuyler Red Out Committee invites you to participate in our Go Red game to help the American Heart Association end their fight against heartt disease. This walk and football game will help raise awareness of heart diseasee in our community and raise funds to support the American Heart Association. The game will take place on September 26 th, The event committee is asking everyone whoo attends to wear red to support their efforts. There will be Get Fired Up Red Out event t shirts for f sale for $20, with the proceeds goingg directly to the American Heart Association. If you would likee to preorder a t shirt you may do so thru the Schuyler High School dance team or with any of sponsors listed below. Starting at 5: :15 pm to 6:15 pm we invite the community to walk around the t High School track in remembrance of those we have lost and in celebration of survivorss of heart disease. At 7 pm, we invite everyonee to attend the football game wearing red. Congenital heart defects, which occur in about 1% of live births in the U.S., are the leading cause of death from birth defects. Each year, about 36,000 babies are born with heart defects, the most common congenital malformations in newborns. The American Heart Association is leading the fight against heart disease but we need your help.
