2 General Information The 2 nd annual First Nations Safety Conference is open to everyone and a great opportunity to share, learn and network. We are honoured to welcome back Ray Natraoro from the Squamish Nation and the Stalkaya Group returning this year as our Master of Ceremonies. Conference Highlights General Assembly presentations from a variety of Occupational Safety stakeholders Five half-day training workshops to choose from on the morning of day 2 Networking opportunities including OHS trade show vendor social event Participate in the round table discussion on creating a national framework hosted by the Nokiiwin Tribal Council

3 Day 1 Speaker Lineup G minoomaadozimin We Are Living Well Health & Safety Initiative Audrey Gilbeau Nokiiwin Tribal Council and the 6 communities it represents in Northwestern Ontario under the Robinson-Superior Treaty, embarked on a health & safety journey beginning in Audrey Gilbeau will recount how the initiative started, what communities identified as their biggest priority, how the initiative was able to be funded, and the numerous projects, training, partnerships and research projects that have been developed as a result. Defining Success Westbank First Nation s Self-Government Journey Councilor Christopher Derickson is currently serving as Councilor for the term. He was first elected in the 2012 by-election to represent the community for the remainder of the 2010 to 2013 term, and was re-elected by the community in 2013 and again in Chris Derickson Christopher's mandate is that, in all that Westbank First Nation does, and will do, it is the people that matter the most and he works to ensure that Members are informed and included.

Improving Road Safety for Indigenous Communities Potential Opportunities The BC Road Safety Strategy recognizes the unique transportation challenges facing Indigenous

In his role he supports the development of the Council s provincewide training programs. Russel Robertson Russel will provide a presentation explaining how a competency based training and assessment system can help bring more qualified workers into the forest industry as well as ensure that existing workers are competent, safe and productive. To address these needs stakeholders have come together to develop the Indigenous Community Transportation Safety Strategy.
