2 Dear Friend: On May 25, 2019 Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will once again be hosting the Heart Breaker Challenge, to raise funds for the Cardiac, Stroke and Pulmonary Rehab programs. Now in it s 7 th year, the event continues to challenge participants to walk, jog or run a 5 km course over a number of obstacles. Participants, entered as individuals or in a team, will crawl in mud and through tubes, walk through water, carry objects, and climb walls. Since its debut year in 2013, the Heart Breaker Challenge has raised over $500,000. It consistently receives accolades for the quality of the event and has attracted thousands of participants and spectators from all over Ontario and Michigan. With 100% of proceeds going directly to Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare s Cardiac, Stroke, and Pulmonary Rehab programs, this locally organized event ensures that all funds raised stay in our community. This year we will continue to support the important work being done by the Cardiac Wellness team. Our goal is to encourage participants to break from their normal routine and challenge their heart with an activity that will be fun and have a positive impact on their health. The Heart Breaker Challenge is 100% local, and 100% fun. To complement the event, there will be food for the participants and drinks to celebrate the completion of the challenge. The Heart Breaker will once again take place at Malden Park in Windsor where there are a number of natural and open areas providing an excellent backdrop for this event. 6 On September 6, 2018, in recognition of their hard work and many years of fundraising to make the exercise room at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare a reality, the Cardiac Wellness and Pulmonary Rehab exercise centre was named in the Petro Family name. Jason Petro, upon hearing of this honour, stated that this naming also recognizes every community member that worked on the various fundraisers that lead to the creation of this wonderful facility. Hôtel-Dieu Grace and the Changing Lives Together Foundation would also like to thank all the donors and event participants that supported this project. Jason and Heidi Petro along with their small but dedicated committee turn their sights on the next project extending the geographical range of the program with the east end location of Hotel-Dieu Grace as well as the Sherk in Leamington to include a new location in the expanded arena project in Tecumseh. This new location will allow for more patients to benefit from the program and allows them to access the expertise of our healthcare professionals closer to their homes.
