I hope Santa was good to all of you and that you are all looking forward to a healthy and prosperous new year. January is starting off as a busy month with many activities scheduled. Lots of college bowl games and cheering our Buckeyes on to a Rose Bowl victory on January 1st. On Sunday January the 6th, we will have the B.P.O.E. Elks #51 Hoop Shoot Contest at Kenton Ridge High School from 09:00 to 12:00 noon. Please contact me with any questions at or me at jmoses32@msn.com. On Friday January 11, we will have our Monthly Trivia Night. On Saturday the 12th we will listen to the sounds of the band Hey There Morgan and Saturday Jan. 19th will be 60s night. In February we will have the Super Bowl on Feb 3rd, and I hope our beloved Browns are in the championship game. If not this year, certainly next year. On February 23rd, we will have our Old-timer s Elks luncheon, celebrating the many years of service and milestones for many of our members. The first of the year is also a time to begin recruiting new members and encouraging past members to become active again. Bring potential new members up to the lodge for a meal and some drinks. Talk our club up with all of the fun it has to offer friends and their families. We will want them to become active members when the pool and golf course opens and the good weather is here to stay. We will be balloting on the following members at the regular meeting on Wednesday, January 16, Brent Thorson Name Kenneth L VanBeber Watch the bulletin board for a list of the candidates we will be balloting on at the regular meeting on February 20, 2019 and any additional candidates in January. Remember that your dues invoices for are available for pickup in the downstairs area outside the office until January 20th. Those invoices remaining after January 20th will be mailed. Dues for will be $96.00 for regular members and $57.75 for Life Members. Please try to get your payment in by March 31, Your orange card will cease to work in the door after March 31, The membership cards will be blue and will be activated on Monday, April 1, If you do not plan on renewing your dues for , please let the office know as soon as possible so that we can remove you from our system. This year s Hoop Shoot contest is being held on January 6th at Kenton Ridge High School from 9:00 am until Noon. Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 13 are eligible. This event is open to the public and we are hoping for a big turnout to represent our Lodge. Winners will progress to the next round which is held in Wilmington on January 19th. The national Hoop Shoot will be held on April 27, 2019 in Chicago. This is a great way to teach kids good sportsmanship and for them to exhibit their skills. Volunteers are needed on January 6th and if you are interested in helping or have any questions, please contact Jeff Randall at or by at jmoses32@msn.com. OSU-Michigan Game Party... The annual OSU vs Michigan Game Party was held on Saturday, November 24th. This event raised a little over $2500 after expenses which will be distributed to local charities. We also collected two barrels of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank and Family Needs Inc. The Chili Cook-Off was won by Mike Donovan followed closely in second place by Shawn Sprinkle. Our thanks to Jeff Randall, the officers and all of those who helped plan and work the event and to all those who generously donated items for the door prizes and raffles.

4 Kids Christmas Party... We had a big turn out, and I wanted to thank once again all the wonderful members who always donate food and other items for the party. They make the party happen! I would like to thank everyone for all of their tremendous help, too many to name; however, a special thank you to Kris and Bret Mason, Rob and Deb Johnson, Bev Vatter, Charlene Tosi and Linda Desentz for all their help before, during, and after the party. They helped make the party just PERFECT for the kids! What would a kids Christmas party be without Santa. I would like to extend a special thank you to Santa Mike Larson for always donating his time to make the kids party truly magical! Those pictures with Santa will be family treasures for years to come. Happy Holidays to all our Elks members including their children and grandchildren! Thank you, Melissa Hopkins Elks Dan Switzer Memorial Tuesday 9-Hole Golf League Meeting... March 5th at 7:00 PM at the Lodge. Anyone interested in playing in the Elks #51 Tuesday Golf League, please attend this meeting. The league is open to all Elks in good standing; there may or may not be openings for new-to-league players. The league usually begins play in mid-april. Last season we had 6 divisions with Div. #1 starting at 2:30 pm and Div. #6 at 5:00 pm. The league was full last season with 10 teams in each division. Returning teams, please have at least one member attend this organizational meeting. Please contact the if you are interested in advertising in the Chatter. We have spaces available. Parking... is sometimes very limited at the Lodge. Warning if your vehicle is parked illegally in our lot outside the lined spaces (example at the end of the rows, etc.) your vehicle will be towed away at your expense. We are required to maintain a legal fi re lane around the parking lot for emergency vehicles. Elks Lodge #51 is not responsible for damaged or stolen cars or theft from cars. Everyone parks at their own risk. Also, please do not park in the two parking spaces identifi ed by signs stating Night Bartenders. They are reserved exclusively for our night bartenders. Thank you for your cooperation Reminder... Members, please remember, you cannot sign anyone s name other than your own for the drawings the quarter and dollar daily and the Building Fund weekly. Also, remember, guests of members are not permitted to purchase alcoholic beverages or run tabs. Members must make the purchase. Articles for the Next Chatter must be turned in by February 15th.
