Chorley Masonic Hall Newsletter August 2017 Issue 11 September 2018 The Upstairs Bar is complete!! Next job decorating the room!! Can anyone spare an hour or two to help? Contact Bryan Hoarty Tel: Mobile:
Celebration at St Georges Lodge of Chorley 7161 Chorley Chapter Celebrate On Friday 14th September, St. George s Lodge of Chorley 7161, are holding a meeting, by dispensation to celebrate Tom Jackson s 50th Anniversary Ray Thain, their secretary, says that there will be more Gold Braid than you can shake a stick at in attendance and that sunglasses will be the dress code for the evening!! Places are extremely limited but Ray reminds us that the Secretary is partial to bribes of the alcoholic variety as his proposed guests keep being invited by others!! Full report of proceedings will be in next months newsletter. It will be a red letter day for the members of Chorley Chapter on the 25th of September when they celebrate their 70 th Anniversary. They will be celebrating in fine style by having a double exaltation ceremony. Not something particularly rare I hear you say but Chorley Chapter s exaltations are for a father and son, Phil and Tom Richardson of Chorley Lodge. This promises to be a very special night for the Chapter and its members. Scribe E, Eric Kos suggests early booking as this is bound to be a very popular meeting, he is taking bookings now and can be contacted on or ewk@plussafety.co.uk When the Editor asked John Askew of St Georges Lodge of Chorley 7161 for news for the newsletter he told him that he recently took part in a campaign promoting the health advantages of dried grapes. It was all about raisin awareness
Ray Thain completes Penine Way Walk and raises 2500 for CALLM unit Ahem, the donation page is still open, please contact Ray for further details on how to donate to this very worthy cause His mobile number is and his address is Ray Thain, Secretary of St Georges Lodge of Chorley reports:- The long suffering Mrs Thain and I duly completed the 268 Miles of the Pennine Way. Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland by what transpired to be a very scenic route, not very direct at all. Somewhat similar to my route around a golf course!! Chorley and District Masonic Fellowship The September meeting of the Fellowship is on Wednesday,12th. September 2018, at 2pm. The speaker will be Brian Halliwell We completed this in 14 consecutive days, (Yes we are crazy) signed the book in the Borders Hotel and received a half pint (Yes only a half pint) for our efforts. He will be giving a talk entitled "The Golden Age Of Comedy. Part1.". Editor Good speaker!!!! However, to date we have raised just over 2500 pounds for the CALLM unit treating those battling with Leukaemia.
Advance notice from Perfect Points As there is likely to be a large number of questions posed the Perfect Points executive will choose which will be put to the panel on the evening with the selection hopefully being the most interesting and stimulating. Selected questioners will then be informed and asked to pose the question on the night after which it is hoped a full answer will be given. This evening can only be successful with your help so please respond to this if you are curious about anything Kindest regards, Gary Smith, Chairman Perfect Points. Gary Smith, the chairman of Perfect Points, tells us that :- The Perfect Points Chorley Masonic Research Society will be hosting a Question and Answer session on Friday 26th October The session will follow the AGM meeting at which all Masons, whether members of the society or not, are welcome to attend. The venue will follow shortly and after the session a two course meal will follow. As we are a research society we are only interested in questions with relation to the history of Freemasonry both Craft and Chapter and not with matters of protocol. If any Brother or Companion has anything that they wish to be discussed then please forward any questions to the Perfect Points secretary Steven Lowe on lowe38.family@blueyonder.co.uk and/ or myself on garysmith71@live.co.uk The Masonic season is almost upon us and what better way to start it than a trip to Bank Top Brewery in Bolton. Friday 14th September :00, 16 PP Includes ale & pasties. Open to all Light Blue Masons, family & friends. Limited spaces available and 1st come 1st served on this occasion. For more details or to book chorleybluesbrothers@gmail.com
What a Problem to have! Edwin Schofield, Secretary of Asshaw Lodge reports:- Asshaw Lodge is busy! There will be an initiation in October, Installation in November, another candidate in December and the potential of an additional possible initiate. This volume of work means the Lodge will hold an extra meeting in September, by dispensation. Visitors would be most welcome on the second Thursday.
