The skating rinks are done, and I like to thank Dana Sydor & all his girls for the work, they put in this past Winter in keeping the ice in great condition. Once the weather permits, we will be gearing up to start up again, on the construction of the East Park Development and getting tenders out for the Parking Lot expansion project If you re still interested in getting your family an engraved stone, there is still time to fill out the enclosed form in the Newsletters and send it in to Melissa or myself. 3 Winter Fun We held our Winter Warmer Feb. 11th and saw a small but enthusiastic group of folks out to enjoy Toonie Pancake Breakfast and Chili Supper. It was a beautiful day:the sun was out, the wind was up and yours truly even took a few turns on the rink! Many, many thanks go to the following people: Dana, Cheryl, Olive, and Lisa in the kitchen, Olive and Melissa on tickets, Cheryl on last-minute advertising, and license procurement, and Melissa for facebooking the event. Olive's expertise on chilitasting, Melissa for locking up (even though she could hardly stand up-injury, not drink), Crystal provided the music. Greg did the beer run; Trudy, our City of Edmonton CRC, supplied prizes and, as always, support Special thanks to those who donated to the Park Redevelopment Fund Doorprizes went to: Olga Purgch (Rosslyn golf shirt); Rose Wowk (cooler bag); Emil Laskiwski (Rosslyn vest); Steve Takacs and Olga Laskiwski (City of Edmonton scarves); Crystal Breakenridge (City of Edmonton mugs) The next Toonie Pancake Breakfast is June 17th Take yer Dad out for breakfast on Father s Day ROSSLYN WALKS has been underway since early February. This is your no registration, no obligation, guaranteed no cost exercise plan. We meet at the hall parking lot Sundays at 3 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm and walk wherever our little legs take us JOIN US - SEE THE COMMUNITY 3

4 Curling Champions Congratulations go to Krysta Hilker & her curling team- Team Rocque with Kelsey Rocque-Skip, Krysta Hilker- Third, Kathleen Dunbar-Second, Katie Roskewich- Lead & Coach Doug Hardy, in capturing the inaugural, AL- BERTA JUNIOR CURLING TOUR PLAYER S CHAMPION- SHIP last month in Okotoks. The girls placed third overall in the province, with points accumulated throughout the season, playing sponsored Bonspiel events throughout Alberta, for the Junior Tour. The top, eight women & men s teams, then playoff in a Players Championship at the end of their season. Well done girls!! 4

5 Talk about a SENIOR moment! Several days ago as I left a meeting at our church, I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down. I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing. Suddenly I realized, I must have left them in the car. Frantically I headed for the parking lot. My wife, Diane, has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the doors of the church, I came to a terrifying conclusion. Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all, Honey, I stammered. I always call her honey in times like these. I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen. There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard Diane s voice, Ken, she barked, I dropped you off! Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, Well, come and get me. Diane retorted, I will, as soon as I convince this policeman I have not stolen your car!
