2 Mission & Vision BELhospice was founded in 2004 as the first charity organisation in Serbia that provides free palliative care to cancer patients in advanced stages of their illness We believe access to palliative care is a human right. Our vision is that all patients in Serbia suffering from cancer in advanced stages receive proper palliative care, at the appropriate time, so that they can live every moment with dignity, alongside their loved ones During our first 10 years we had a focus entirely on the development of home care services. In the next decade we will develop inpatient hospice services By the end of 2017 we will open the first specialised inpatient hospice in Belgrade

3 Real facts Every year 20,000 patients die from cancer in Serbia. According to available data, around 6,000 die in hospitals, and for the other 14,000 there are no relevant statistics. 30,000 new diagnosed cancer patients in Serbia. 16,000 patients and their families would benefit from quality palliative care. These hidden patients are one of the burning issues in the society because palliative care is available only to a small number of patients.

4 Services BELhospice multidisciplinary team consists of two specialist doctors, four nurses, social worker, psychologist, spiritual coordinator and group of 25 volunteers. They are visiting patients at their homes and provide necessary care and support. BELhospice team is providing following services: Pain management and symptom control Nurse care Psycho-social support Creative workshops for patients Educational workshops for patient's families Bereavement support for patient's families

5 Additional activities BELhospice assists in the process of education of relevant professionals and general public and promotes palliative care concept in the wider community. BELhospice is engaged in lobbying for relevant policy and legislation changes on the national level, aimed at incorporating palliative care within the existing health care system. BELhospice is also organises wide range of different fundraising events throughout the year to raise necessary funds to support its work with cancer patients.

6 New inpatient hospice In Belgrade, and the rest of Serbia, there is still no specialised inpatient hospice able to provide multidisciplinary palliative care to terminally ill cancer patients There are several palliative care units within state hospitals around Serbia but they are unable to provide multidisciplinary holistic care With a population of 2 million in Belgrade, there is a need for around 200 inpatient hospice beds (according to WHO guidelines)

7 New inpatient hospice In 2015 BELhospice launched a Capital Campaign to establish the first inpatient hospice in Serbia New hospice will be constructed according to the highest standards and will provide palliative care 24/7 New hospice will accommodate inpatient unit with 12 beds, outpatient clinic, day care centre, education centre and working space for staff Hospice will provide: 500 admissions to inpatient unite per year 2500 home care visits per year 600 outpatient consultations per year 2500 visits in the day care centre per year Altogether 1000 cancer patients will be cared for per year

8 BELhospice funding Palliative care services provided by BELhospice are completely free of charge for patients and their families. BELhospice services are financed solely by individual and corporate donations, and also by organising charity events throughout the year. With help from our donors and sponsors we managed to raise enough funds and improve our services so that we could provide the best possible care for our patients and their families. In 2017 we will need to raise 200,000 to maintain the level of our services and provide free palliative care for over 450 terminally ill cancer patients. During 2017 we will need to raise additional 550,000 to finish the project of opening a new inpatient hospice in Belgrade.

9 BELhospice funding BELhospice centre and our patients need your help. Any help, no mater how small it may seem, it will mean a lot to us. You can help us most if you give a donation or participate in our fundraising events. Your donation will cover major costs that we have in our everyday work with patients. Additionally you can also sponsor one of our doctors or nurses for a year. Yearly gross salary for a doctor is around 16,000 and for a nurse is around 8,500. You can also donate for a new inpatient hospice. Please go through our fundraising plan for 2017 and choose the event that best suits your business and CSR strategy.

12 Charity Bowling Tournament Charity Bowling Tournament organised in 2016 gathered 19 companies and raised over 9,000 in support of BELhospice caring for cancer patients. Companies that participated at Charity Bowling Tournament 2016

13 Charity Bowling Tournament March 2017 Coloseum Bowling Centre, Zemun We are organising this tournament to mark the International Women's Day on 8 th March and we are inviting companies to support us by participating with their female bowling teams. Every year we provide winner's cups for the best bowling team and the best player. We also provide symbolic gifts for ladies that participate in bowling tournament. Participation fee for one bowling team is 500.

15 BELhospice Team at Belgrade Marathon BELhospice team of almost 1,000 runners successfully participated at the Belgrade marathon in April In 2016 the event raised 35,000. These funds were used to provide free palliative care to cancer patients in advanced stages of their illness and to establish the first inpatient hospice in Serbia.

25 5-a-side football tournament June 2017 Sport centre of the Serbian Football Association, Stara Pazova 5-a-side football tournament is a traditional BELhospice charity event. This event is offering fantastic possibilities for your company to organise a team building in the Serbian House of Football. Your employees can play football and compete for BELhospice trophy while supported by their families and colleagues. Participation fee for one football team is 1,000. 28 Tennis Tournament Tennis tournament in 2016 gathered 74 tennis players who competed in both male and female competition. 36 BELhospice Annual Charity Ball Charity Ball is the most important fundraising event for BELhospice. Event held in 2015 gathered more than 300 guests, including representatives of diplomatic corps, corporate sector and influential individuals that support BELhospice. 74,000 were raised during the evening. These funds were used to support the work of BELhospice in providing free palliative care to cancer patients in advanced stages of their illness and to establish the first inpatient hospice in Serbia.
