3 FREE Teach KS3 and KS4 Physics with confidence course The FREE CPD sessions are aimed at non-specialist Physics teachers in Secondary Schools. This is an opportunity to attend 3 days of FREE physics CPD to improve your knowledge and confidence, and to try out a range of practical teaching strategies. A unique feature of our training is the dedicated maths session. Participants will learn how, and when, the maths needed for physics is taught in students maths lessons. 5 Stonewall Train the Trainer course Enabling you to equip staff to tackle homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying in schools The Train the Trainer courses are aimed at pastoral, anti-bullying and PSHE leads. The Stonewall training gives you the knowledge, tools and confidence to train colleagues on tackling homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. It also enables you to understand how to support lesbian, gay, bi and trans young people, as well as meeting the requirements of the new Ofsted inspection framework. After attending the course, participating schools automatically become members of Stonewall s School Champions programme. 6 Coaching Skills Twilight CPD delivered by: Keren Gunn, Senior Assistant Principal and Specialist Leader of Education A twilight course for teaching and support staff, aimed at both experienced and budding coaches at all levels You may currently manage staff and want to brush up your coaching skills, whilst also taking the opportunity to discuss ideas with other coaches within the school. Maybe you have coached or mentored other members of staff or trainee teachers and would like to be able to improve your coaching skills for the future. Perhaps you have never coached anyone but would like to be able to start coaching, and would like some techniques and strategies before you start. 7 Light and Sound Technology Twilight Training for Secondary School Staff Do you have professional sound and lighting equipment ready to use in your school but don t know how to use it? From productions to parents evenings, shows to show and tell, being able to create atmosphere, ambience and impact through the use of sound and lighting gives all your events a greater impact and professionalism. Course Information Date: 20 th April 2017 This twilight session aims to provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience to be able to effectively use the technology in your school to enhance performances. No matter what level of experience you have this session will help you develop confidence in the selection and deployment of lighting and sound within your school environment. 9 Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) - courses overview We are pleased to offer Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training courses in association with the Mental Health First Aid England Licenced instructors from Pacesetter Wellbeing Ltd. Youth Mental Health First Aid are educational courses which teach people how to identify, understand and help young people (8-18 years old) who may be developing mental health issues. In the same way as we would learn physical first aid, the Mental Health First Aid courses teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health. The evidence-based courses have been developed by Mental Health First Aid England and include a high-quality resources for continued reference after the course. 23 rd February 2017 or 6th July :30 4:30pm 75 + VAT Youth MHFA Lite offers an introduction to young people s mental health and to mental health issues. Keren sits on the National PSHE Association advisory committee and has sustained a high level of PSHE engagement throughout the academy. She is designated as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) where she has supported schools in the local area to develop their PSHE curriculum. The network aims to be a collaborative and supportive environment in order to improve the quality of learning and teaching across all participating schools. The Hatton Teaching School Alliance Secondary Anti-bullying and E-safety Network is aimed at anyone involved in supporting students and enabling staff to deal with bullying effectively. This links with e-safety to provide a sound base of knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced with the use of technology both in, and out of the school environment. The sessions are hosted by John Barker, Lead Teacher at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy who successfully delivers the Stonewall Train the Trainer courses, gaining the Gold Award as a Stonewall school champion school. He has supported schools nationally in implementing policy change, anti-bullying and behaviour strategies and has recently been designated as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for behaviour, with a focus on bullying. The network aims to be a collaborative and supportive environment in order to improve the support and training given to all schools across the network. They are an opportunity to share best practice, to ask for support and advice on any area of bullying or e-safety and help to develop combined knowledge on effective strategies and best practice. The Hatton Teaching School Alliance Secondary Anti-bullying and E-safety Network is aimed at anyone involved in supporting students and enabling staff to deal with bullying effectively. This links with e-safety to provide a sound base of knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced with the use of technology both in, and out of the school environment. The sessions are hosted by John Barker, Lead Teacher at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy who successfully delivers the Stonewall Train the Trainer courses, gaining the Gold Award as a Stonewall school champion school. He has supported schools nationally in implementing policy change, anti-bullying and behaviour strategies and has recently been designated as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for behaviour, with a focus on bullying. The network aims to be a collaborative and supportive environment in order to improve the support and training given to all schools across the network. They are an opportunity to share best practice, to ask for support and advice on any area of bullying or e-safety and help to develop combined knowledge on effective strategies and best practice. The meetings take place in Hatton Teaching School Alliance s dedicated training centre starting at 4pm, with refreshments included.
