3 4KIDS 2015 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS The accomplishments of 10 high school seniors were recognized by the 4Kids Foundation at a scholarship reception that took place on Thursday, May 7, The 10 seniors from Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties were selected by an independent panel of judges from almost 75 applicants as the recipients of the 4Kids Scholarships, totaling $25,000. 4 2015 RECIPIENTS The 4Kids Foundation supported eleven local non-profits with donations in A B A. Character@Heart is committed to helping every child develop the good character they will need to succeed in life regardless of their social and economic status. They work with communities, schools, and parents to implement character education programs. The $10,000 donation from the 4Kids Foundation will help provide classroom grants to assist teachers in implementing character programs in their classrooms, in addition to supporting other initiatives. B. Common Ground Montgomery seeks to create a safe haven of love and grace along with structure and discipline for the neglected and impoverished kids in the Washington Park community. C.-D. In addition to a $10,000 donation to Common Ground Montgomery, the 4Kids Foundation hosted the 4Kids Toy Drive to benefit Common Ground Montgomery s Christmas Store. Common Ground Montgomery s Christmas store provides kids in the community the joy of receiving toys for Christmas, offers parents and guardians of these kids the gift of dignity as they are provided an opportunity to purchase toys at an affordable rate, and helps empower the high school students in the After School Program by giving them an opportunity to invest back into their community. Hundreds of toys were collected by customers and the community in s River Region branches. Team members also purchased toys for Common Ground Montgomery s Christmas Store using $2,375 donated by the 4Kids Foundation. C E. Baptist East s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit recently unveiled their newest expansion. The NICU is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment of critically ill newborns. Care for these newborns is provided by a team of highly skilled and dedicated neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and emergency technicians. The unit is also equipped with room-in quarters where mothers can receive personal training and assistance from nurses, as it relates to the care of their new infants. The 4Kids Foundation chose to support Baptist Health in honor of two team members who have personally benefited from the great service they provide. E D The Boys and Girls Ranches of Alabama have been caring for children from unfortunate circumstances within the state of Alabama for over 48 years. The mission of the Ranches is to provide Christian, family-style residential homes for Alabama s needy, neglected, or abused school-age children in an atmosphere where they may grow spiritually and physically into productive, responsible, and happy adults. 7

5 2015 RECIPIENTS Children s of Alabama is the only hospital in the state dedicated solely to the care of children. They aim to provide the finest pediatric health services to children in an environment that fosters excellence in research and medical education. Every year, hundreds of families in the communities serves benefit from the care provided by Children s of Alabama. A The S.T.E.P. Foundation was established to impact inner city missions in Montgomery. Their mission is to present the Gospel in at-risk communities by partnering with churches and educational programs to elevate people to a better life. A.-C. AMBUCS is a non-profit service organization dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. The $2,500 donation given by the 4Kids Foundation allowed AMBUCS to purchase bikes specifically designed to meet the needs of five children on their waiting list. D. The Henry Tellis Foundation exists to provide mentoring, outreach, education, health and wellness, parental development, and other community related and charitable services. It is the organization s heart and passion to see lives changed and a better Montgomery for the children and communities that they serve. The Foundation has helped numerous students strive to reach their full potential. Kid One has a vision for every child in Alabama to live a long and happy life. They help accomplish this by bridging the transportation gap that prevents Alabama s children and expectant mothers from accessing much-needed healthcare services. E. Storybook Farm s mission is to walk alongside children with uncertain futures and provide them with unyielding joy and hope. It is a place for healing, sharing, learning and growing. Storybook Farm serves children ages 2 to young adulthood who face obstacles such as autism, cerebral palsy, cognitive delays, sensory integration issues and bereavement situations to name a few. Horseback riding or hippotherapy provides physical benefits such as improvements to balance, motor skills, muscle strength and coordination. In addition to teaching riding skills, instructors and volunteers invest in each child and offer acceptance, respect and love resulting in a sense of belonging, self-worth, achievement and confidence. Tie and Doll s mission is to mentor youth to build their self-esteem and empower them to lead courageously, give generously, and enrich themselves culturally so that they can make intelligent choices and be positive influences in their respective communities. 6 4KIDS 16TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT 2015 FUNDRAISING TOTAL $109, Golf Tournament $41, Payroll Deductions $23, Candy Bar Sales $16, Gift Card Event $9, Miscellaneous $8, Membership Eligibility $5, Bucket Fundraiser $4, Catering Events $1, DONATIONS TOTAL $76, The 4Kids Foundation hosted its annual charity golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Prattville on October 21. With 211 golfers and 112 dedicated sponsors, the fundraising event was a huge success and netted more than $40,000 for children s charities. The 4Kids Annual Charity Golf Tournament is our biggest fundraiser each year, said Wayne Blackwell, 4Kids President and Chief Retail Officer. We are thankful for the continued support of s vendors, customers, and the community to help make the event successful each year. Funds raised at the tournament are used to benefit children s charities in the River Region and East Alabama, as well as the 4Kids Scholarship Program.
