NEWSLETTER July 2017 We are almost by the finish line in acquiring the 'Church Property'. The closing that was scheduled for June 28 th, 2017 has been rescheduled for the next week. The SRS Sangat have poured their hearts out in reaching beyond the expected Collections of Donations. We have a team of Sangat members, who worked tirelessly in achieving beyond what was expected. All of you deserve BIG CONGRATULATIONS for donating more than 50% of the purchase price. Also, we know, some of us are not totally convinced about the project and hence have not contributed towards the purchase of the new property, but we know in their heart of hearts, they would also be a part of this history. Actually, the beauty of being a part of SRS is that we all, through the membership, do own this property irrespective whether one has or not contributed towards this cause. So, we hope, everyone, keeping aside any differences, will come forward and donate for this cause. The SRS Gurmat School finished up the session with the highest ever enrollment. Congratulations to all the students and thanks to all the parents who also were dedicated to the cause of bringing their children to the school. Please follow the Newsletter and announcements in Diwan Hall for all the future programs and enrollment for session. Please do not get late as the classes fill up fast. We had two BOT meetings in the month of June. There were some very important resolutions made and passed. One of the most important resolution pertains to all of us. Few days ago, we got an from a neighbor of ours. He mentioned that he, while riding his bike, was almost run over by a car coming out of our parking lot. The driver was blinded by the cars parked on the street (Winnetka St). Because of these cars, there is an accident waiting to happen. BOT has passed a resolution to stop the parking of cars along Winnetka St. 'No Parking' signs will be posted soon. We request the SRS Sangat to NOT PARK on Winnetka St. The Annual General Body meeting will be held on August 6, 2017 from 11 am to 12 pm. The Sangat is requested to please express their views in a very concise and specific manner. The proceedings will be recorded. Please make yourself available for the meeting. The BOT also passed a Resolution to start the process to approach State of Illinois to commemorate 'Saragarhi Day' on the lines of as passed in the State of Virginia. S. Satnam Singh Aulakh will spearhead the efforts. 1 P a g e
3 SPECIAL THANKS: BOT offers special thanks to all the hardworking members of Sangat. These Sangat members put in immense amount of time in saving our society a lot of money. They are never looking for recognition and work selflessly. When you see the nicely manicured lawns, well pruned trees and shrubs, planted flower plants, SRS kitchen Garden, snow plowed parking lots, regular dissemination of SRS information, organizing and running SRS Gurmat School, access to a well-organized SRS Library etc., these are the hardworking individuals, who make this happen. We, on behalf Sangat, pray to Akaal Purakh to BLESS them with CHARDI KALAA. Also from time to time, Sangat members drive long distances to bring and also offer their homes in keeping our guest Kathakaars / Raagi Jathaas / Dhaadi Jathaas and offer the comfort of their homes.
