1 Neangar Park Pony Club Newsletter, September Club Website Club DC: NPPC Committee Ass. DC / Card Sec. President: Rebecca Ray becray@hotmail.com Tracey Cole Kim Fitzpatrick Vice Pres./Grants Coordinator : Glenda Wilson Secretary: Treasurer: Event Secretary: Mel Robinson Kim / Mikayla O Neill Trista Hoyland Canteen Manager: Andrea Rankin Photographer: Baelea Collins (Learner) C/ DC Report Hi Everyone, What a great August Rally we had! We managed to have a great time while raising money for a very worthwhile cause, the Royal Melbourne Children s Hospital. Thankyou to all those who donated prizes for the awesome balloon raffle, and of course to everything for buying tickets. The tickets sold out in no time at all; I think we will need double for next year! A big congrats to our members who completed their C certificate, Steph Horton, Georgia Cole and Ashleigh Robinson. Well done riders. I would like to encourage all members to be pro- active in filling out your work books. I try to have enough lessons at rallys to cover all the theory, but if you ever have any questions about the certificates or the work books, just ask, I m always happy to help. Once again I must thank our instructors, we were very lucky to have Rosemary Harris taking the flat lessons, Dan doing polo X, Tanya as always doing a great job with the jumping and Trista helping with theory. Thank you all very much! On a personal note, I would like to thank you for all being patient with me as I get used to life as a mum. A huge thankyou to Tracey, for being a super duper assistant, and filling in while I ve not been unavailable. Hope all the Dads had a great Fathers Day, and I will see you all at the September Rally. Rebecca Next Rally October 5 th, 2014 Next Club Meeting NPPC Open Gymkhana Sunday September 28, 2014 Full Program Available on the NPPC website Monday, September 29 st, 2014 At 7:30pm NPPC Rooms ALL members welcome.
2 ~ REMINDERS ~ Attending a rally?- Try your best to let the DC (Bec or Tracey) know if you are going to an upcoming rally by the WEDNESDAY of the week before. Lunch Don t forget to order your lunch at the canteen before the start of the first lesson. Events & Celebrations ~ Birthdays ~ Baelea Collins (12) September 5 th Melanie Robinson September 7 th Laura Philbrick (20) September 29 th Hannah Mika (16) September 17 th Rebecca Ray September 16th Happy Birthday Girls! Did you know... A Big THANK YOU From Andrea August Rally Andrea (Rankin- our Canteen Manager) would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all those who attended, and helped make our August Fundraising Rally such a success. All proceeds from the day, including the canteen takings, were donated to the RMCH, which has a special place in Andrea s heart, as it was the fantastic care that her Grandson Max received there that saved his life. It was very fitting that Max, and Henry, won the beautiful rocking horse Hannah Mika made:- Here is Max riding the horse Bunnigngs BBQ Despite a change of day at VERY short notice, the NPPC Bunnings Certificates Sausage Sizzle was a huge success. Thanks to EVERYONE who helped on Three NPPC riders achieved the day. Here is Shift #1 of the day- their C Certificates in August. Hannah Mika (who stayed all day) Julie Well done Georgia, Steph & Birchmore, Steve Lake & Tracey Cole Hannah! Equid hybrids are, as the name tactfully suggests, hybrid animals bred from the three equid species;- zebras, donkeys, and horses. Most people know the mule, also known as john or molly depending on gender), which is the cross of a male donkey and a female horse. However, it is only one of the many equid hybrids out there. Another combination is the offspring of a horse father and a donkey mother called a hinny. Zebras and horses can be bred into zorses and hebras, which are also known as golden zebras because, frankly, those names make the poor creatures sound like science fiction characters. Adding ponies to the mix brings even more hilarious sounding options, such as zonies and zetlands. Show Jumping & Novelties Hannah & Ashleigh Robinson, Mikayla O Neill, Georgia & Will Cole all went to the showjumping /novelties day on the 31st August, at the Bendigo Showgrounds. They all did really well, jumping above their comfort zone!! Hannah was brave and rode her Mum s mare Tilly in the 30cm and 45cm, while Ash rode Spirit in the 30/45 and 60 cm, then did barrel racing!! Hannah then got on Cavvy and did some games. Will did the 30/45cm on Raffity, and Georgia did 70cm on him too then the 45/60 on Scooter. Mikayla did the 60/70/80 all on Sebastian! - Report by Melanie Robinson

To support this application, NPPC members are asked to show their support by completing a Pledge Form (as attached). Below is detailed information from Empowering Eaglehawk s website explaining how your pledge will help with future funding. There is no catch, nor cost, to you by completing the pledge. Please support your Club by supporting this Grant Application by completing a pledge form. Thank you- Glenda Wilson (Vice President & Grants Co-ordinatoer) Every pledge helps: Including yours. This scheme is a partnership between the Community of Eaglehawk, Bendigo Bank, Bendigo Community Telco and the City of Greater Bendigo to generate income to put towards community projects such as sports grounds, linear walking trails and other community programs that aim to create a healthier and more active community. It is a pilot scheme with enormous potential for community projects, providing you, as a community member, support it and spread the message to your family, friends and neighbours. Joining the scheme is as easy as Do your banking with Bendigo Bank. By doing something as simple as our day-to-day banking we can generate money for Empowering Eaglehawk Inc. and the more business we do with the Bendigo, the more money we ll receive and there s NO catch. To have our Bendigo Bank accounts tagged, or join the Bendigo, call the Eaglehawk Branch on Get connected with Bendigo Community Telco. The same applies when we move our home or business phone, our mobile or Internet service to Bendigo Community telco. To tag our Bendigo Community Telco services, call Bendigo Community Telco on Continue using your accounts and service from both providers as normal. Both Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Community Telco have committed to giving a percentage of their profit margins on our nominated accounts and services to the community at no cost to the customer. Remember every pledge, no matter how small, will make a difference, including yours... Make your pledge today
4 Holiday Activity ~ Congratulations ~ It has been suggested that a fun school holiday activity for our members would be bowling at the Bendigo Bowling Centre. Do we have a parent or two who would like to volunteer to coordinate and supervise such an event for the kids? Please Note- There will be NO Newsletter next month! At the recent PCAV AGM, NPPC s very own Trista Hoyland was awarded the Pony Club Award of Merit. The Award of Merit is the highest honour for outstanding service to Pony Club performed as a Riding or Non-Riding Member, aged between 18 and 26 years. The Award of Merit is a service award aimed at rewarding outstanding service. Trista was nominated for this award by our DC Bec Ray. Following are Bec s thoughts as to why Trista should be nominated and receive an Award of Merit:- Trista has been a member of NPPC since 2005 and during that time has been a valuable member of our Club. She is always early to rallys to help set up and stays to help pack up. Trista is always helpful and organised and puts the running of the Club before her own riding. She has been a general member of Our Committee for a number of years, always helping out where she can, and has recently been nominated as our Club Event Secretary,so far doing a wonderful job. Trista is always on hand to help younger members with encouraging words and helpful advice. She is always happy to take a group of young riders in a lesson or organise an activity, anything she can do to help out. Trista is also a tremendous help during club events, putting her hand up for any jobs that need doing and even judging on occasion. Trista is a great role model as the ideal pony club member to the younger members of our Club, and will often join in on a team or activity to help make up numbers so others have a chance to ride. We are very sad that Trista is in her final year of Pony Club as she approaches the age limit, so we are looking into having an adult membership to allow her to stay, that s how much we love having her as a member, and a friend to the whole Club!
