Other wonderful prizes will also be donated and these will be displayed in due course. Our beautiful quilt has been kindly donated by the LINNAS Club of Nambour. It has been made by the ladies of LINNAS, including one of our members Joy Wiseman, who has made all the patchwork. Our other amazing prize is a wonderful original painting by Keith Blake, husband of another of our Craft ladies. Many of you are aware of the beauty and quality of Keith s work, many of which portray local scenes as does our prize painting of the Mapleton Forest. Please buy tickets for this worthy cause 1 for $2 and 3 for $5. 1
2 QCCC Mapleton group news QCCC Mapleton hosts more than 300 individual group bookings every year. Very occasionally QCCC encounters a group whose program and attitude is irreconcilably incompatible with the facility. Over the last ten days QCCC Mapleton hosted a group using military strategies to work with at-risk youth. It was the first time Mapleton had hosted this group. They used excessively loud early-morning drill exercises and aggressive shouting at participants, somewhat different from the fun and encouragement usually associated with QCCC s activities. This camp has now concluded and QCCC has cancelled the next booking the group held with the facility. QCCC Mapleton management has taken immediate and decisive action and apologises for the actions of this group, and for any impact on our community. QCCC/Triballink works with a Commonwealth Games team: Several international teams trained on the Sunshine Coast before the Commonwealth Games. QCCC and the staff from Triballink were asked to provide a team-building activity for the Scottish women s hockey team as they transitioned from training to competition. Triballink s Kerry Neill told Dreamtime stories on Mudjimba beach and gave the team an opportunity to throw boomerangs and sample weaponry. QCCC s Andrew Grant took over with his father to describe the actions of the kilt-wearing Seaforth Highlanders on the Western Front 100 years ago. The pictures from the day were beamed around the UK on social media. 2
3 Hi everyone and a big thank you to all who turned up to support another great Sunday afternoon of music and bare foot bowling. It was great to have Bri Green back once again. Such a fantastic artist. Michael O Rourke performed a great set of original material along with a few interesting tales as well! The afternoon was rounded up with Georgia Delves and Patrick Wilson, who have nearly finished their NSW and QLD tour. We were lucky enough to catch them as they were passing through.both of them great writers and performers. A nice way to end the day. Thanks again to all who attended, and to everyone who helped put the day together. See you all in May! Mapleton Bowls Club - Winners of social bowls on Saturday 7/04/2018 with 2 plus 23 ROY.
