2 Program Goal The overall goal of this symposium is to provide the rehabilitative healthcare practitioners with current and future practice in the field of stroke rehabilitation to help improve functional outcomes and enhance the practitioners knowledge of what is available to them regarding treatment planning and interventions. We are also providing an opportunity to get hands on experience with some of this technology in the participants scope of practice. Program Learning Objectives At the close of this activity participants will be able to: 1. Describe the current stroke response protocols in a pre-hospital environment and how the introduction of a Mobile Stroke Unit can adjust current stroke response protocols and what that could mean for patients experiencing a stroke. 2. Describe the rational for rehabilitation robotics and list the latest advances in rehabilitation robotics and wearable sensing for movement rehabilitation after stroke. 3. Discuss how rehabilitation robotics may aid in occupational and physical therapy. 4. State the neural self-organization mechanisms that allow bio-inspired design in robotic therapy devices. 5. Discuss the Frontiers in Rehabilitation Science and Technology Council as a primary vehicle to foster implementation novel, neuro-rehabilitative interventions in clinical and home environments. 6. List emerging technologies that blend with scientific discovery. Course Completion Requirements 1. To obtain CEU s from this symposium you must be signed in and be in attendance throughout the agenda to receive full CEUs. If you have to leave early or miss any of the content you are responsible to contact the CE provider and then your CEU s will be adapted accordingly and your certificate will be sent to you. 2. You will have to complete the post course evaluation. Target Audience The program is designed for Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists and other allied health professionals who treat people who have had a stroke.
