2 CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION ACCREDITATION PROGRAM Program Objectives To understand and identify primary and secondary headache types. To understand atypical headache variants, headaches that detail emergent care, and broaden diagnosis of headache as it relates to other disorders. Present new data for brain cancers and describe targeted therapy for gliomas. Explain how advances in intraoperative image guidance and microsurgical techniques have reduced the risks and recovery time in brain tumor operations and have improved surgical outcomes. Illustrate the level of care available to brain tumor patients within our community. Recognize early detection and describe management of Alzheimer s dementia. Differentiate between Alzheimer s dementia from other types of dementia. Explain when to appropriately refer patients for subspecialty evaluation and the role of video-eeg monitoring in the differential diagnosis of epilepsy, and describe various treatment options for drug-resistant seizures. Relate the pathophysiology of minor TBI/Concussion to the development of PCS and identify screening tools and management strategies to manage PCS. Describe the impact on employment and cognition/psychosocial function post-concussion. Identify common psychiatric disorders in the primary care setting and list key aspects in the treatment of common psychiatric disorders Review cases and identify symptoms for Parkinson s Disease management, and discuss appropriate treatment options for patients with Parkinson s Disease. Review common causes of cardioembolic stroke and describe the treatment of cardioembolic stroke.
