5 Leicester Ageing Together Supported by the Big Lottery Fund, using National Lottery Funding Leicester Ageing Together is a four year project, funded by Big Lottery, working to reduce social isolation of older people. We offer activities and services to people over 50 in Belgrave, Evington, Spinney Hills, Thurncourt & Wycliffe wards. Here s what s on offer to people in Evington. The West Indian Senior Citizens Project (WISCP) offers a range of activities for African Caribbean elders, to enhance their quality of life. WISCP provide services specifically geared to meet social and cultural needs of older adults in Leicester city. We offer a Carers Club every Thursday from 11am to 4pm.It is run by volunteers and offers support, respite and socialising. Silver Strand Luncheon Club runs on Wednesday and Thursday, from 11.00am to 4.00pm and includes a meal, drink and dessert for There is also a Keep Fit Session and the Mango Tree Café on Thursdays from 3pm to late, for dominoes, ludo, warri, chess and socialising. We visit and assesses how best to provide support and undertake a Home Safety check. Volunteer Guardians then provide ongoing support as required. Neighbourhood Task Force The project s Task Force and its team of volunteers carry out oneoff clearing, repairs, gardening, decorating and cleaning in older people s homes; bringing living spaces back up to standard and reinstating a sense of security and wellbeing.
