The prgrams prvide academic and clinical educatinal experiences t prepare entry-level speech-language pathlgists and t prvide specialized training in deaf educatin. In additin, tw tracks in the speech-language pathlgy prgram are ffered: an emphasis in deafness and an emphasis in neurgenic disrders. Clinical practicum experiences ccur in diversified settings such as the Fntbnne University s Eardley Family Clinic fr Speech-Language and Hearing, St. Jhn s Mercy Hspital, St. Jseph Institute fr the Deaf, Veterans Administrative Medical Center, Mg Center fr Deaf Educatin, St. Luis Cunty Special Schl District, and Central Institute fr the Deaf. Graduate assistantships and traineeships are available fr qualified students wh have cmpleted an apprpriate number f clinical practicum hurs. ACADEMIC REGULATIONS Fr detailed infrmatin n academic plicies and regulatins, please refer t the graduate prgram infrmatin sectin in this catalg. SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS: T earn a Fntbnne University graduate degree, a student must cmplete all requirements fr the specific graduate prgram and the degree. A degree-seeking graduate student at Fntbnne University is expected t perfrm at a satisfactry academic level by: Earning n mre than ne grade f C in a graduate curse Earning n grades f F in graduate curse Achieving and maintaining a minimum cumulative grade pint average (GPA) f 3.0 and Fllwing all academic requirements specific t the graduate prgram. The fllwing plicies apply: C and/r F Grades A student wh earns a grade f C in a graduate curse will immediately be sent a letter placing them n academic prbatin. Cpies f the letter will be sent t the dean f the cllege and the assciate vice president fr academic affairs, with a cpy placed in the student s file. A student wh earns a secnd grade f C will be dismissed frm the prgram and the university. The student may appeal the dismissal and request immediate reinstatement t the prgram by petitining the cllege dean. With their permissin, the student may retake ne f the tw curses in which the C was earned as sn as the curse is available. The dean, in cnsultatin with the prgram directr, may set the cnditins fr retaking the curse, including which f the tw curses shuld be repeated. A student wh earns an F in a graduate curse will be dismissed frm the prgram and the university. Repeating Graduate Curses: A graduate student may repeat n mre than ne graduate curse and may repeat that graduate curse ne time nly. The curse being retaken must be taken at Fntbnne University. Althugh students may retake classes fr higher grades, applicatin f the satisfactry academic prgress plicies will be based n initial grades earned. ACADEMIC PROBATION DURING GRADUATE STUDY In cmmunicatin disrders and deaf educatin, prbatin rdinarily extends nt mre than ne semester (nine hurs fr full-time students, six hurs fr part-time students) beynd the semester during which the student was placed n prbatin.
