2 2015 ANNUAL REPORT FUELING IMPACT ABOUT THE NATIONAL MS SOCIETY The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources so that everyone affected by multiple sclerosis can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever. To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. u We act with urgency so that each person can be more powerful than the challenges of MS u We lead through inspiration, collaboration, influence and a relentless resolve u We engage, value and empower others, always seeking a diverse perspective u We innovate and continuously learn u We deploy resources to their greatest potential with integrity and accountability BY THE NUMBERS In 2015, the Society invested $54 million to advance more than 380 research projects around the world. Through its comprehensive nation-wide network of services, the Society invested $122.2 million to help more than one million individuals affected by MS connect to the people, information and resources needed to live their best lives.

3 CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS presented by In 2015, more than 15,000 participants and volunteers at 13 different sites got into the spirit of Walk MS, the chapter s largest annual fundraising event, together raising over $2.7 million for MS research, programs and services. The 2nd annual MuckFest MS event in Illinois was a splashing success, with nearly 2,780 participants slipping and sloshing their way through the 5k mud run and obstacle course and raising close to $300,000, almost doubling proceeds from the first year. Nearly 1,900 cyclists cruised the open roads of northern Illinois at Bike MS: Tour de Farms, which is part of the largest fundraising cycling series in the world, raising over $1.5 million to help create a world free of MS. Nearly 1,400 individuals volunteered their time in 2015 by staffing fundraising events, facilitating support groups and peer support programs, lending their talents to special projects and office work, serving as MS activists, and providing leadership as members of the Board of Trustees. The 37th Annual Carol Cohn & Margie Weil Memorial MS Outing, hosted by Chapter Board Member Joe Weil in July, raised over $1 million. More than 500 attendees participated in the all-day event in Highland Park, which featured 18 holes of golf, mahjong, canasta, bridge, silent auction and dinner program. E. Scott Santi, chairman and CEO of Illinois Tool Works 2O15 Inc., was honored at the chapter s annual Dinner of Champions gala, which took place in September at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago. More than 60 Do-it-Yourself fundraisers held third party events across Illinois, including golf outings, endurance races, bar events, concerts and more, raising over $163,000 during the past year. Over $1.5 million in research grants were distributed to researchers and neurologists at statewide institutions thanks to proceeds from the Illinois Lottery MS instant win ticket. 44 statewide support groups, led by volunteer peer facilitators, helped hundreds of individuals living with MS and their care partners connect with others facing similar challenges related to MS.
