I want to say how proud I have been to serve as your Governor for the last year. I am proud that we completed a new roof on the lodge and we have finely solved the problem with the air handlers dripping water in the Lodge Hall and Social Quarters. We have completely replaced all the cooking equipment in the kitchen which has greatly enhanced our ability to serve meals to our members. In addition, we have removed necessary trees around the lodge which will greatly help in protecting the life of our new roof. At the same time we put down a new laminate dance floor on the Lodge Hall side. The accomplishments that can be seen are awesome but the accomplishments that cannot be seen are just as rewarding. We have increased the number of members participating in our projects and events. It has been fun watching us do more for others. Everything from the Toys for Tots to the Moose Legion Celebration brought out the best of our members. Lastly, we have increased our membership this year. For the first time in years we will be eligible to get the Fraternal Service Award. This was made possible by recruiting new members and retaining current members. Without you, the member, we could not do what we do. Thank you. grow, and continue do greater things next year. I have met a lot of people this year and I appreciate all the kind words and the words of wisdom that has been shared. I am not going far away and will still be an active participant in our lodge. 4 DECEMBER 2016 NEWSLETTER PAGE 4 WOTM Officers Elected Officers It has been a privilege to serve Chapter 1682 as your voice for the past year. It has been a major learning experience and one that I will not soon forget. When I began this year, I set out a chapter goal that goal was to have our chapter make an impact on our lodge home and our community. WE SUCCEEDED in a major way. Together we were able to financially support many endeavors in our local community such as West Zephyrhills Elementary, Thomas Promise, Trinkets for Teens, a local Girl Scout Troup, two scholarships to local ZHS students and the Pregnancy Care Center just to name a few. We were able to host a Christmas in July event with a local senior nursing home. These and other donations made a huge impact right here in Zephyrhills. We were able to make donations to larger projects including Toy s for Tots and Special Olympics. We donated well over $10,000 combined to Mooseheart and Moosehaven this year between our Centennial donation, our monthly support of our Mooseheart child and Moosehaven residents, and our monthly support of Moose Charities. Speaking of Moose Charities, we were also able to host a Safe Surfin event and make a financial donation on behalf of our chapter. Beyond our financial donations, more of our co-workers donated their time and mileage in volunteering in our community in our libraries, schools, hospice, and hospitals. We came together to bring goodies a number of times to our local hero s in law enforcement and fire stations. We were able to host a wonderful Chapter Anniversary Party, a very special College of Regents event, our members Children Christmas Party (with a visit from Santa) and our Chapter Christmas Party. What a year! A successful year only happens when people step up, step forward, and participate. To each and everyone of you who sold pies, raffle tickets, worked at an event, served on a committee, brought baked goods in, decorated, wrapped, and showed up, from the bottom of my heart thank you. YOU are what made this chapter a success this year. It is my sincere hope that even more will see the fun to be had and step up, step forward to continue the success of this year into the years to come. I also want to thank the Board of Officers and committee chairman that stepped up to answer the call to service by our chapter. YOU made this year. 5 NEWSLETTER PAGE 5 Junior Graduate Regent Share As I come to the end of my year as the Junior Graduate Regent, I want to say how much I have enjoyed serving in the office and with my fellow officers and co-workers, for the Women of the Moose at Zephyrhills, Chapter During my tenure, we have grown as an organization and we can be proud that we have worked with the Loyal Order of the Moose to make this a better lodge. I wish to thank all my co-workers that have helped us reach new heights through their efforts, from selling pies, to doing cake walks, to popping popcorn. We could not have achieved our goals without each and every one of you. Serving with the WOTM has given me a warm feeling of personal satisfaction as we have helped Mooseheart, Moosehaven, numerous community projects, and charities. 6 NEWSLETTER PAGE 6 Honoring our local hero s from Pasco County a night of valor was held on March 18th. Pasco Count Sheriff Lieutenant Mike Jones was honored along with his STAR Team. Sgt. Macomber, Field Training Seargeant, along with District 2 STAR team members Cpl. Kempink, Dep., Polermo, Dep. Aiken and Dep. Hershelman. Sgt. Macomber is tasked with ensuring all new deputies are successful in their training. Sgt. Macomber is also an Army veteran and has been with the Pasco County Sheriff Department for over 22 years. Pasco County Fire/Rescue Station 18 was also honored. Captain Rhiannon Rutzen, Captain Kristopher Johns, D/P Dawn Simpson, F/E Jean Paul Blanco, F/ P Cody Compagni, F/P Brian Kunard, and F/E Joshua DeWolf were in attendance. These are the men and women who provide service to our Moose Home whenever we call 911. Station 16 is located on Bay Avenue in Crystal Springs. Cpt. Kempink supervises the STAR Team. The STAR team targets the worst known offenders in the district. They are relentless investigators who make it their business to know everyone that is committing crimes in District 2. The STAR Team is what is called The tip of the Spear. These officers are some of the best and brightest serving our community. Our Moose family extends our deepest gratitude to each of these deputies for their commitment and service in keeping our communities safe. We are privileged to have been able to honor each of them during our Night of Valor. Captain Rhiannon Rutzen is this years Paco County Fire Rescue Employee of the Year. She is emblematically of what a Moose Honoree is. From her warm smile, to the exceptional job knowledge and ability, to finding a way to help others with her cando attitude makes her a leader not only with the Pasco County Fire Rescue but within our community. Her presence inspires those around her to be their best selves is how her co-workers describe her. She volunteers with Tampa s All Children s Hospital. A quote by those who nominated her for this honor, Her qualities personify what we hope for when we think of the ultimate selfless public servant, the firefighter. Our Moose family congratulates Captain Rutzen and thanks each of the Fire Fighters for their commitment to selflessly serving our community.
