2 Swope Health improves the health and wellness of the community by delivering accessible, quality, comprehensive patient care.

3 A Golden Opportunity The year was A small group of individuals were determined to make sure the working poor of Kansas City had access to primary healthcare services. They opened a health clinic in the basement of a church, with just 20 employees and a $100,000 grant. They saw 2,000 patients that first year. Now, 50 years later, Swope Health is more committed than ever to serving the working poor, the uninsured and the underinsured. We employ more than 500 associates and have multiple locations, including nine primary care clinics, five residential facilities and one substance use disorder treatment facility. Our dedicated providers and staff treat nearly 45,000 unique patients annually. We re incredibly proud of these accomplishments and are excited to share with you our celebration plans for our Golden Anniversary. In the pages that follow, you ll find information on the signature events we ve lined up for our 50th Anniversary as well as some of our crowd-pleasing annual events like Treat Town and Socks and Hops. Games and treats are available for the kids, and adults can pick up information on a variety of health and community services. 23 Our winter drives provide for our patients and clients who are most in need of a happy holiday. If you would like to help us bring some holiday cheer, consider supporting one of our signature Season of Giving drives. Champs Toy Drive and Holiday Celebration SUGGESTED TIMEFRAME: NOVEMBER 1 - DECEMBER 1 Calling all elves: Do you love shopping for toys and other gifts for children, tweens and teens? Host a toy drive for our Champs program participants. Champs is a youth group for children ages 5-16 who come from families struggling with mental health and covers topics such as family relationships, communication skills, nutrition, problem solving and time management skills. HOW YOU CAN HELP: Conduct a toy drive.* Donate money or gift cards that we can use to buy toys and party supplies *We want each Champs kid to feel as if the gift they re given was picked out just for them! If you re planning to conduct a toy drive, please contact us by mid-october so we can supply you with a suggested list of age-appropriate toys based on our kiddos likes and interests. Holidays for Swope Health Residential Clients SUGGESTED TIMEFRAME: NOVEMBER 25 - DEC. 6 Swope Health has residential group homes for individuals who need a little help living fully in the community. Many of these individuals have little family support, and without the company of their friends from Swope Health, they might spend the holidays alone. HOW YOU CAN HELP: Supply treats for the group s holiday party Donate money or gift cards that can be used to purchase gifts, party supplies and other items Stock the Pantry (food collection drive) TIME FRAME: ONGOING Our Outreach Services Pantry supports those in the homeless community who don t always have access to nourishing meals. Help us stock the pantry with non-perishable, ready-to-eat food items. Food drives or other collection methods are welcome.
