1 Serenity News May 2018 Lake-Sumter Central Office 2113 Citrus Blvd, Suite-AA Leesburg, Florida
2 God grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change; COURAGE to change the things I can; and WISDOM to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it: Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen Back On Thursday - The Villages 6:00 PM - Primary Purpose, Chapel Of Christian Faith,1401 Paradise Dr, (BB)... Meeting Changes Saturday Eustis :30 AM Stepping Stones, 115 Citrus Ave (2nd Sat Bus Mtg & 4th Sat SP mtg) Thursday Leesburg :00 PM AWOL, Hope & Recovery, 2018 Tally Road (GV) Concept V Throughout our world services structure, a traditional "Right of Appeal" ought to prevail, thus assuring us that minority opinion will be heard and that petitions for the redress of personal grievances will be carefully considered This Concept also warns us of the tyranny of the majority and points out that in A.A., a simple majority is seldom sufficient basis for a decision. That s why we usually require at least a two-thirds majority. Lacking this, it is preferable to delay the decision; or in the case of an election following the Third Legacy Procedure, to go to the hat. (See Service Manual, Chapter I.) The Right of Appeal also permits any person in the service structure, whether paid or volunteer, to petition for redress of a personal grievance. He or she can complain directly to the General Service Board, without prejudice or fear of reprisal.
3 What Does Our Central Office Do? How Can I Help? We provide various opportunities for volunteers to be of service in helping our groups carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous. Maintain an open AA service office Monday - Friday 10 am 5 pm & Saturday 9 am 1 pm. Provides a "24 hour" answering service consisting of volunteer alcoholics during office business hours and an after-hours Hotline answering service for calls to Alcoholics Anonymous. Offers a wide selection of AA literature, pamphlets and merchandise for sale to groups and individuals. Both conference and non-conference approved literature are available. Makes available Lake-Sumter "meeting schedules" and information about other AA community events. Publishes the monthly Serenity News newsletter which celebrates groups member birthdays. We provide a computer so members can conduct job searches, compose their resume. We'll print hard copies of your resume & fax. CD burner so members to burn copies of their favorite speakers. Maintains this active and informative web site: Central office volunteers help sponsor events like picnics, dinners and other fund raising events. "Pass it on Book Exchange" where you can take books that members have donated or drop off books so others can have. Serves as a repository for the collection of "Pink Can" donations which are used to purchase AA literature that is distributed to local prison inmates. Serves as a repository for the collection for "District 7"donations as a convenience to our members Hardship Assistance Book available - resources to help with a variety of needs like financial assistance, food, clothes, jobs, utilities, etc.
4 District March Fin Report TREASURER BILL C IN ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, WE ALL WORK TOGETHER To those now in its fold, Alcoholics Anonymous has made the difference between misery and sobriety, and often the difference between life and death. A.A. can, of course, mean just as much to uncounted alcoholics not yet reached. Therefore, no society of men and women ever had a more urgent need for continuous effectiveness and permanent unity. We alcoholics see that we must work together and hang together, else most of us will finally die alone. ~ Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 561
