The new Commissioner may be a surprise guest. 2. You Have a Choice Russell Johnson, Steve Holmes This power point presentation and discussion will focus on the great things self advocates are doing with their lives based on individual choices and services. 3. Aktion Club Greg Bruggman What it is, how to start an Aktion club, and how it can help you succeed in the community. 4. Going to College Marilyn Stata, Joe Santecessaria, Dr. Dave DuBois, Empire State College 5. Mental Health Advocacy Amy Upham, Action for Mental Health A panel of self advocates talk about their experiences going to college. Moderated by Professor David DuBois. A training on advocacy when you have a mental health diagnosis. Session B 11:00 a.m. 11:45 a.m. 6. Board Training Darren Jackson, DDSO and Mary Beth Schneider, NYSARC Be a leader! Learn about becoming a board member or committee member. 7. Live Taping of TV Show - Know Your Rights and Responsibilities Sam Mattle, Chester Finn, Mike Gettings, with questions from the audience. This will be a live taping of our TV show Self Advocacy in Action. The subject of the show is: rights and responsibilities. 8. Options for People Through Services (OPTS) 9. Starting Your Own Business Kelly Gardener, Shelly Falitico, Bonnie Evert, Ed Saz, Saz's Computer Creations Agencies can write plans and programs based on what you want from services. Come and see how you might be able to develop your own project. Ed Saz will give a talk about his business and give ideas how you might start your own business. 10. Innovative Getaways Doran Segal, Guided Tour Dream of traveling the world? A workshop on all kinds of vacations. Session C 2:00 p.m. 2:45 p.m. 11. Self Determination Sam Mattle, Kim Henchen, Deb Anderson, Kitty Egan, Elaine Peckham Be in charge of your life, hire your own staff, and go for your dreams. Learn how to get started and what you can do. 12. Talking to Your Legislator Chester Finn, Jack Beedon Learn how to develop a relationship with your local legislator. 13. Living on Your Own Marilyn Stata This workshop will focus on what you need to know about living on your own. 14. Dealing with the Blues During the Holidays Trica Vucic, Joe Infantolino This workshop will discuss ways to deal with the blues during the holidays with a focus on alternative therapies. 15. Disability History Douglas Platt The disability History Museum will be here to give an overview of the history of people with dd in Western NY.

Anyone planning to attend the Self Advocacy Regional Conference 2007 We cannot accept walk-ins Scholarship Information Scholarships are available including a limited number of full scholarships on a first come first serve basis. If you wish to apply for a scholarship you must check yes on your application AND call to notify us. Registrations are due by May 5, We accept the following forms of payment: 1. Check Make checks/money orders payable to: SANYS 2. Money Order 3. Voucher 4. Cash Note: FLDDSO staff and self advocates registration forms must be in to Diane Bero by April 21 st. Check the intranet for instructions. o If for any reason the check cannot be sent in with the registration form, please indicate who the money is for in an attached note and/or in the memo section of the check or money order when it is sent to ensure that your registration is credited properly. o We will accept payment up to 10 days prior to the conference. o If for some reason you cannot get the payment to us prior to 10 days before the conference date, please bring your payment to the conference and stand in the UNPAID line.
