2 2017 Presidents Report MEETING LOCATION FOR FEBRUARY 5 THE VENUE TALLMADGE CIRCLE Meal and socializing 6 PM 7:25 PM We will be ordering from the Firehouse menu As I am getting ready to turn over the reins to Chuck Heretta for 2018, many things stand out to me as your President for four years. First, I wanted to thank all my officers and members for the tremendous support over the last four years as your President. During those four years, TTCC has added 24 new people to our membership. I wouldn t have guessed that, until I looked at the new 2018 directory. In four years Tiretown has steadily increased its support of local charities, culminating in donations of $2840 for We should be very proud! As our 2018 season begins, please reflect on what you get and want from your membership in Tiretown. I am asking the 24 new members to be proactive in Tiretown socials and sanctioned events. Don t be shy, speak out and help the club continue to grow. Thanks to all the members and officers for making all this happen. Tom Geul From the President As my first article as President, I am going to float a few ideas past you as members. Set aside time for Tiretown in Your Board will be working on a blend of new suggestions, along with keeping traditions alive. Our tradition of an annual banquet was Saturday, January 27 th and was attended by 40 members. We had long time members attend who don t normally make a lot of meetings or socials it was great to see them. Boomers, a group found by John Taube, provided the entertainment prompting some to stay past 10PM a recent time record! (Probably not even close in yesteryear.) We need to build on this start throughout the year. I would love to see increased attendance at club meetings, events, and socials. The first meeting of 2018 will be Monday, February 5 th at The Venue in Tallmadge at 7:30PM. If you desire to order off the menu, you can arrive any time after six to dine and chat prior to the meeting. One of the other things I would like to see happen is continued growth and participation of Tiretown members at other Clubs events. That first opportunity will be the first weekend in March at the Holiday Inn Select in Strongsville. This is the East Ohio Regional Banquet where 2017 winners and workers are recognized. Tiretown has both winners and workers to be recognized that evening. There is a flyer in this newsletter with further information. Please note the cut-off date. Why not make it a get-a-way weekend with Club members and a chance to meet members of other clubs? As my final thought there is a 13-letter word which makes clubs grow and prosper COMMUNICATION. It is the method of explaining ideas. The more we express our ideas, the more thought and ideas spring forth. Remember, there are no stupid questions. Please ask me anything and I will get an answer. 3 TIRETOWN CORVETTE CLUB BUSINESS MEETING DECEMBER 4, 2017 The VENUE SECRETARY Received a newsletter from Mound City Corvette Club and several requests for donations. Motion made to accept minutes as read by Peg Quine, seconded by Lori Weninger. TREASURER Paid dues and sanction fees to the East Ohio Region and NCCC MEMBERSHIP Twenty one members and one visitor at meeting. SUNSHINE John Taube is doing well. Sent a card to Alan Moore who had a heart attack. He had surgery and is up walking and doing good. Staying with Judy. A sympathy card was sent to Angie and Aaron Quine on the death of her grandparents. SOCIAL Remember the Christmas party on the l6th. Diana is passing around a sign-up sheet. Diana will let us know when we can get in to decorate. GOVERNOR Did everyone get the NCCC Presidents message? If you haven't been able to print your membership cards, let Peg know and she will print them. Information on the regional banquet will be in the newsletter. Money is due by February 12 th. Don't delete anything you get from NCCC to spam, just delete it. It messes up their system. Will send out information on worker shirts and 200 club shirts as soon as I receive it VICE PRES 2017 competition is over. I'm very happy with the results. For the 2018 schedule, we will have 3 events. One speed event, which we will do ourselves and two car shows. Let s try to make 2018 an even better year. Corvette Cleveland is doing the regional banquet. They are trying to make it a party weekend. PRESIDENT Donation for the Christmas party of $5.00 per person. Our charity will be ACCESS. Chuck suggested we double match the donation. Approved by membership. Also suggest we donate $ to each, Make a Wish, Salvation Army and Akron Pregnancy. Barb Ruman made a motion to do this, seconded by Peg Quine. Motion passed. John Taube has a friend who will play music at the banquet. Barb Ruman said Ruman Racing had a bad season, Only finished 3 rd. 5 What a great Banquet, the food was good. It was nice to see so many of our members in attendance. We had a few members present who have not been to a banquet or meeting in quite a while, it was good to see Bernie and Pat Schneider and Dick & Mary June Starts. Congratulations to Tom Geul who was presented the Outstanding Member Award for 2017, I am glad that this award was started up again. Tom has been a good President for TTCC these past four years, through his leadership we have had some good years. We wish the 2018 officers good luck this coming year. Diana & Bill Bray Governor s Report The EOR banquet is March 3rd, 2018 hosted by Corvette Cleveland. Flyer elsewhere in newsletter. Congratulations to those Club members that will be receiving awards at the EOR banquet they are listed elsewhere East Ohio Regional meeting was December 10, 2017 Budget for 2018 was approved, anyone wanting to see the budget, see me. It was voted that the Treasurer and Secretary positions each have their own budget. In the past, one person held both positions. These positions are now held by two people. Corvette Cleveland talked about all the fun things that are planned for the banquet and hope to see everyone there on March 3rd. Reservations need to be in by February 12, Bidding for 2018 events took place. Tiretown came in 5th place, and that s where we fell in the bidding. We were able to get the dates that we needed. I will have more to report in next month's newsletter. I will be attending the NCCC meeting on February 24th and the EOR meeting on March 4th. Governor Peg Quine
