3 GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes December 18, 2013 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Twenty-four members were present. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS Guest, Jim Butts, introduced himself. Jim has a 2014 Laguna Blue Corvette. Freddie thanked Peggy DeLorenzo for putting together a great slideshow for the banquet, Rob DeLorenzo for serving as master of ceremonies, and to those individuals who donated items for the auction. Freddie will bring beers and a few sodas left over from the banquet to the next Club party. Next year the Club might not purchase as many beers as most members bought wine or mixed drinks. SECRETARY S REPORT Pat Frymyer moved the minutes from the November meeting be accepted as written. Seconded by Bob Haugh. TREASURER S REPORT Herb Smith provided the report. He received a thank you card from Ed Jones for the Club donation in Suzie s memory. Herb stated that we could give $2500 to charities. See new business for more discussion. VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT Dave First called for the following committee reports: SOCIAL December 31: New Year s Eve Party, American Legion, Tipp City. John and Debbie Vanscoy said that the band American Made will perform. Horderves will be served at 7:30 p.m. and at midnight there will be a good luck dinner. Cost is $25.00 per couple or $15.00 for single. Tickets will be sold at the door. Gary Stiens passed around a new template for social events. Attending members liked the format. Gary will send out to all members for their comments. Let Gary know if you would like to host one of the monthly dinner outs. He is looking for someone to host a Super Bowl Party and the Daytona 500. If you would like to help Gary on the social committee, let him know. Bob Haugh said that he is going to meet with a member of the Clarksburg, West Virginia Corvette club on December 19 to discuss our Club joining their show next year. Dean Tavener questioned the club caravanning with Western Pennsylvania to the National Corvette Museum at the end of August His thoughts are

4 that instead of Club members traveling from the National Air Force Museum with the Pennsylvania club that we meet up with them in Florence, Kentucky. MEMBERSHIP: Carol Tavener reported that we have 74 members. PUBLIC RELATIONS No report. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER No report. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR No report. PRESIDENT S REPORT: Freddie suggested members go to and vote for Giovanni s as the best pizza. Chains, such as Marions, are not eligible during this voting. OLD BUSINESS Debbie Vanscoy indicated that service was bad at the Wyndham for our banquet as well as the dance floor being pitted. It was also a bad time of the year. She suggested that we move to a different venue next year, one that might be closer to the members traveling from the north. Freddie stated that this issue is already an agenda item for an E-Board meeting sometime after the holidays. New Business Debbie Vanscoy motioned that the Club give to the following charities. Seconded by Bob Haugh. Motion passed. - Fisher House - Hospice of Dayton - Dayton Food Bank - Hope for the Warriors - Alzheimer s Foundation - St. Peters Food Panty - Interfaith Hospitality Network Bob Haugh motioned that $3, be split among the charities. Seconded by Debbie Vanscoy. Motion carried. Judy Smith received information from Sharon Pennell who visited Jim and Dee Harrison while they were in Florida, that Dee has had a lumpectomy. Dee has 3 more chemotherapy treatments left. Once done with those she will undergo 35 radiation treatments. Please keep her in your prayers.
