Clair was able to pass on some very interesting and relevant information regarding employment of people with many varying disabilities. To Robyn, Carol, Sherril, Cheryl & Bob your effort in bringing my request for a Social Fundraiser to fruition is much appreciated. My thanks also to those who assisted with set-up, clean-up, supper providing and most importantly attending. More on the result tonight. Seven of our members attended the Blue Mountains Police Officer of the Year presentation evening at Leonay on Tuesday. Great fellowship, food and more importantly hearing about the above & beyond performances from the nine finalists. A big Congratulations to Senior Constable Steven Day from the Rescue Squad on winning the prestigious title for We also learnt that our very own PP Pat will be the Chair of next years awards committee congratulations Pat. Happy April Birthday Bob Templeman Jan Templeman Lance Brandt Ken Thrift We have a couple of very busy weeks coming up and I ask that you all volunteer as much time as you can afford to ensuring all the events are successful in both the fellowship created & the financial result. Very pleased with the response to Bill s call out for an extra Bunnings on the 14th. We both appreciate the extra time commitment these extras impose but the additional income only assists us help more people/ projects at the end of the year. It also reinforces the regard our Club is held in by Bunnings. Bob still has 1 or 2 spots for our regular Bunnings on the 21 st! The Nepean Jobs For All project is a joint initiative of the Penrith, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury city Councils, supported by the Regional Strategic Alliance. The project aims to raise awareness in the community about the benefits of employing people with disability: it s not just good for the person with a disability, and for feel good factor it s good business sense also. Already throughout the course of Nepean Jobs For All Claire has presented at many business networking events, however their aim now is to focus more on awareness-raising aspects of the project. This greeting is from the Rotary Club of Laurieton Inc. Dist 9650 NSW To promote International Understanding and Goodwill it is customary at their dinner meeting to raise a toast to a Rotary Club somewhere in the world This week it was to Our Club! We thank them for their good wishes and will look at doing this at our meetings too!

5 It is with deep regret that our Response Team has had to withdraw from Papua New Guinea. After extensive consultation and negotiation, the team were unable to secure an implementing partner willing or able to operate in partnership with us and whose levels of access, impartiality and accountability matched our own requirements. PNG is a very difficult environment to operate in, with poor infrastructure and a complex security situation even before the damage from natural disasters. The Operations team will continue to monitor the situation and remain in touch with Rotary and the International Organistaion for Migration (IOM). All donations received for our PNG Appeal will go towards funding future disaster relief. enewsletter April 2018

7 MUSIC AMONGST THE AUTUMN LEAVES Sunday 6th May am till 4pm $5. Per person The Old Farm 35 Purvines Rd Yellow Rock 2777 Come and be captivated by the performance of some of the Blue Mountains aspiring young musicians in a fabulous out door park like venue. Wander in the grounds and be enthralled by the changing colours of the Autumn season. You can bring a picnic lunch & refreshments. And relax in the gardens while listening to the performances of some of the Blue Mountains talented young musicians. 10 The Rotary Club of Blackheath is again holding its annual Anzac Day Golf Classic on 25th April 2018 to be held at the Blackheath Golf Club and you are all invited. You don t have to be a golfer to participate at this event. You can join us at any stage during the day. You can simply come for lunch at 1.00pm for $35- or join us later for the auction including the showing of the short film The Telegram Man or the Anzac Memorial dusk service at 4.00pm. If any members or guests are coming for lunch please let us know for catering purposes. Hope you can join us.
