1 PURPLE POWER You are cordially invited to: Naples Relay for Life Event Date: Friday, April 16th - Saturday, April 17th Event Location: Gulfview Middle School Event Schedule: Walk begins at 4 PM on Friday - Ends at 10 AM on Saturday Celebrate - The Survivors Lap Relay starts with a Survivors Lap an inspirational time when survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories we ve achieved over cancer. The Survivors Lap is an emotional example of how Relay participants are creating a world with more birthdays like those of each individual on the track. Remember - The Luminaria Ceremony After dark, we honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence. Fight Back - Fight Back Through Fundraising Last, there is a chance to fight back against cancer through fundraising. In addition to what the fundraising teams do before the Relay, there are endless fundraising opportunities available onsite. From food, face painters, crafts and more, Relay teams will have plenty of ways for participants and visitors to support the fight against cancer. No matter where you are, there s a place for you at Relay and you can make a difference today by signing up online to start your own team or by simply making a donation. 5 Register Online (Teams/Participants/Survivors) We would love to have you register your teams online, as well as registering team members on the website. Remember, just because you have paid doesn t mean you are registered online we are the biggest relay in Florida, so we need you to help us out with that step! You need to go to the website and follow the steps to get your team registered online. It would be great to get more survivors registered as well. We are challenging each team to register just 5 survivors that would get us up to our goal of 500 very quickly! You have forms in your team captain s packets and they can register online, also. Online Fundraising/Challenge/How to Send s Last year Naples was in the 10 ten in the state of Florida for fundraising through online donations! Hope you are helping us to continue that success this year. At the meeting last week we issued a challenge to you. Get your team registered and start sending s from the web page. That is the challenge just send as many s as you can! We had stated that the challenge would end on Thursday but we are giving you some extra time now it will end on Monday the 19 th, instead. Register and get those s out and help us to increase our online dollars! Here are some steps to get you started. Go to < Sign in with your username and password Go to My participant center Click on Address book and follow the directions for uploading your addresses Now click on and choose an you would like to send from the solicit gifts section or type your own by selecting the blank message choice. Now send them out and watch the money come in. You might mention in your that Naples is having a blitz so people will know to respond quickly! Entering Offline Donations Some of your donations may be received in the form of checks sent to you in the mail. If so, ACS needs you to enter those on your team s webpage on the website before you turn them in to us. Here are the directions for entering off line donations. Enter < Sign in with your Username and Password Once you re logged in, click on Participant Center link on the top right of the page Click on the My Progress button at the top of the page Click the Enter Gifts Received Offline link on the top right side of the page Enter the following information for the gift received offline Name enter the donor s name and contact information Gift Amount - enter the amount of the donation you received Payment Type - cash or check (need a check number but it can be made up no one is checking on this) Name for gift list this is the message that will appear on your personal page honor scroll Do not display the amount of this gift on my personal page - check the box if you d like the amount to remain hidden from viewers Click Save or Save and Add Another Once you have entered those off line donations we would love to have them! In your team captain s packets you have several envelopes where you can place money received. Please bring it in to us you do not (and should not) have to wait until Relay. This will alleviate a lot of hassle on the day of relay, plus lots of your donors will wonder why their checks have not been cashed until April if they wrote them in earlier in the year! You can bring money to a captain s party, to kickoff in March, or to the ACS office (5020 Tamiami Trail Suite #108, Naples, FL 34103; Phone ) anytime between 9AM and 5PM Monday through Friday; they could also be mailed to ACS.
