June Picnic Annual Meeting June 16 th from 4 7 p.m. at the McCarthys house at 3 Kalmia Path, Sandwich It s time for our Annual Picnic when we ratify the incoming board, say thank you to our outgoing board and get together with new and old members for food, fun and games. The event is limited to 50 people. To reserve a spot, contact hosts Charlie and Kathleen McCarthy ( or kc.mm@hotmail.com) by June 8th to let them know you re coming and whether you ll be bringing an appetizer, side dish, dessert or soft drinks. And don t forget to bring your own lawn chairs and alcoholic beverages, if desired. 2 LOOKING AHEAD Pops by the Sea August 12 th from 5-7 Hyannis Village Green Enjoy the world renowned Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra on the Hyannis Village Green, performing under the direction of Keith Lockhart with Ann Hampton Callaway as guest performer. SNN has reserved 25 festival seats at the group rate of $30 per person. Festival seating individually is $50. This annual summer event regularly sells out. To reserve your festival seats, send a personal check made out to SNN to Lesley Zicko, 33 Marshview Circle, East Sandwich, MA Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for mailing your tickets. The cutoff date is June 18 th. Tickets will be mailed out the week of June 25 th. Social Event Chair: Lesley August Social Event August 18 th from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Enjoy the magic of sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scene of aromatic wood smoke, flickering firelight on arched bridges, silhouettes of fire tenders passing by the flames and enchanting music from across the world as you stroll the paths and bridges of Waterpark Place in downtown Providence, RI. We will meet at the Mashpee Sr. Center at 2:30 p.m. and travel by motor coach to Providence, be given a bus tour of the downtown area and have plenty of time on our own to dine and enjoy all the booths and music set up along the paths. The fires are lit after dusk. The bus will leave Providence around 9 p.m. for the return trip back to Mashpee. 3 Coordinator Still Needed for Lunch LUNCH: Lunches are planned every other month at different restaurants followed or preceded by an activity such as shopping, a museum visit, sightseeing or a walk. Contact Patty Williams (mpatty3@comcast.net or ) if you re willing to volunteer. And here s what s scheduled for FY 2013 so far: LOOKING FURTHER AHEAD GENERAL MEETINGS: Kathleen & Charlie McCarthy, our vice-presidents, have been busy at work planning for two General Meetings for the coming year. The dates for the meetings will be October 2 nd, 2012 and April 9 th, The meetings are held at the Sandwich Glass Works where we ll meet at 6:30 p.m. for social time, followed by our guest speaker at 7 p.m. SNN SOCIALS: Monthly socials are a regularly scheduled activity open to all members. They are hosted by members and are usually held the 3 rd Saturday of the month at 7 pm. at the hosts home. Socials are BYO beverage (wine, beer, soda, water) and everyone who attends also brings an appetizer or dessert. There is no charge. 4 Biking: REGULARLY SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES We take a group ride once a month during the warmer months for hours and then meet for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Coordinator: Patty Williams at or mpatty3@comcast.net. Brunch: Every other month a member hosts a brunch at their home. Everyone who attends contributes to the meal which may consist of salad, vegetables, main dish or dessert. This is a great way to socialize and share recipes. Some brunches are for ladies, some for all, some are holiday brunches and occasionally we go to a local restaurant for Sunday Brunch. Coordinator: Patti Fattori at pattif1927@yahoo.com. Couple s Bridge: Meets the 2 nd Friday of the month at 7 pm. Coordinator: Jean McCann at or jeanmccann40j@comcast.net. Gentlemen s Poker: Meets every other Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at a member s home. Contact coordinator Charlie McCarthy at kc.mm@hotmail.com or if you re interested in joining the group. Girls Night Out: Meets the 1 st Tuesday of the month for dinner at Tomatoes Restaurant followed by a movie at the Heritage Theater. Contact coordinator Kathleen kc.mm@hotmail.com or to be added to her list. Members will receive a prior notifying them of the movie choice offerings and dinner time. Kayaking: Kayakers of all skill levels are welcome to join us Friday mornings in the warmer weather months. We try to visit a different location each week and mix it up between creeks, rivers and ponds. Coordinator: Judy or gardenmoo@aol.com. Ladies Golf: Contact coordinator Lorraine if you d like to join the golfers.
