2 Dear Friend, We at El Programa Hispano Católico s Project UNICA invite you to support our annual Voces de la Comunidad Conference, being held October 18th and 19th (during Domestic Violence Awareness Month) in Portland, Oregon. Voces de la Comunidad is the only fully bi-lingual conference of its kind for conversation and education around issues of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking in Oregon s Latino Communities. We have grown our event exponentially over the past two years, and for this third year, we expect attendance of at least 200 advocates, service providers, and survivors from across the region. Not only is this a unique professional development opportunity for bilingual and bicultural workers, but an essential step toward better addressing the distinctive needs of survivors in our communities. With your help, we can improve our collective ability to do this crucial work throughout Oregon and the Northwest. Please help us support survivors of domestic violence by sponsoring this event. Our third annual two-day conference will include presentations and workshops that acknowledge opportunities and barriers experienced by service providers, community partners and allies, domestic violence and sexual assault advocates, and survivors. Attendees will receive support, ideas, and tools around how to better serve Latino and Latina survivors of violence. English language workshops will focus improving cultural responsiveness among case workers, advocates, agencies, lawyers, and police officers by promoting equity, security, and empowerment. Bilingual workshops will offer insight into the impact of new legislation and policies on survivors in the Latino community. Interpretation services will be available throughout the conference.
