1 OCTOBER/NOVEMBER Newsletter As the school holidays draw to a close we head into round 4 of the Spring Netball Season. Hope you all had an enjoyable break. For the current spring season we have 35 teams representing RNC. Whilst Spring Season traditionally sees a reduction in teams, our numbers this year have remained in line with the Winter Season. This has resulted in Rowville having 18 more teams than the 2 nd largest club. This Spring Season we welcome over 20 new players to the club. A big thank you to all of our new and returning coaches. Our club cannot run as smoothly as it does without your brilliant contribution. With such a large number of teams compared to other clubs, the challenge for both MDNA as a competition and RNC as a club is how/where to place our various teams. Regrading has taken place over rounds 1-3 and the new fixtures for the remainder of the season are now available on the MDNA website. Some teams have moved up, some have moved down and some have stayed the same. This process is based on results to date and recommendations from the club. The ultimate aim with the grading process is that all teams find themselves in sections that enables them to be competitive throughout the season. Realistically though, which is the same for all sports, there is always going to be some teams that are stronger than others and vice versa. In terms of individual player grading for our club in the Spring Season, we generally try to keep teams unchanged. This is however not always possible if players don t return from the winter season. Unfortunately this season, whilst our actual player numbers have remained the same, there has been a number of players which haven t returned and this has resulted in some team changes. Our under 13 teams is an example of this where we have had to fill vacancies in section 1 and 2 teams. The natural progression is to move players up from lower sections to fill these vacancies. As is always the case, our grading committee have done an amazing job filling all 35 teams and I thank them for the many hours they have spent to bring this all together. Winter grading 2018 for under 11, 13, 15 & 17 teams will take place over three weekends in November Sunday the 12 th, 19 th and 26 th. This is where players will be individually graded in preparation for winter season Our AGM will take place during November 2017 and this provides a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining the committee to express interest in the various roles within the club. As such a large club we are always on the lookout for new committee members. If you are interested please feel free to speak with me or any other members of the committee. Good luck to all teams over the remaining weeks of the Spring Season. See you at the courts. Steve Edwards President
