Continuing education information Accreditation Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit OHSU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Physician assistants The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credit is acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification. Radiologists This course is accredited by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists for credits. Nurses The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME, for the purpose of recertification. 6 Multidisciplinary Aortic Dissection Symposium June 23 24, 2017 Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Knight Cardiovascular Institute is pleased to present the inaugural Multidisciplinary Aortic Dissection Symposium. This one-and-a-half-day symposium will feature internationally recognized opinion leaders on complex aortic disease. It is designed for clinicians and advanced practitioners in the treatment and management of patients with aortic dissection. This conference offers a unique focus on type A and B aortic dissection in a multidisciplinary environment that includes vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and aortic geneticists. Course objective Attendees will learn the latest advances in diagnosis, imaging and medical, endovascular, and surgical treatment. Please visit for more information and to register. Location The Symposium will be held in the state of the art Collaborative Life Sciences Building. Collaborative Life Sciences Building 2730 S.W. Discounted rate is good through June 8, Hands-on endovascular workshop During the symposium, a half-day course is offered for operating room nursing and support healthcare professionals to increase knowledge and skills in complex aortic interventions. Three session times are available to choose from: Friday morning, Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Course will cover various methodologies of complex aortic intervention procedures, including hands-on, stepby-step instruction of the modality of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) procedures. Participants will learn how to anticipate surgeon's needs, decrease case time, increase patient safety and success rates. 4.5 CEUs are offered for this course. Space is limited. Registration required. Participants in this course can learn: 1. To understand the benefits of EVAR procedure 2. To gain knowledge of room setup and overall equipment needs 3. To understand all procedural steps; how and why? 4. To gain knowledge of the preparation and proper handling of all devices and accessories required (such as wires, catheters, balloons, sheaths and implantable devices) 5. To understand the different requirements for elective vs. emergent EVAR cases.
