1 We are so glad that you are interested in joining a Small Group at Soul City Church! God created each of us to be a part of loving, intentional relationships that help us become more of who God desires for us to be. We have found that people grow better in circles (like Small Groups) than in rows. On the following pages, you'll find a variety of Small Groups: we have book studies, Bible studies and various other group topics for men, women, and co-ed and married couple groups in locations all over the city. Choose a Small Group that you can commit to attending 75% of the meetings Your Small Group Leader will contact you within a few days confirming which group you are in and let you know all of the relevant information Groups will run the week of June 3 to the week of July 22 We ask that you sign up for one Small Group but feel free to join a different Affinity Group as well Be mindful of the special sign-up instructions for Married Couples Groups This Summer, we'll be launching a particular type of group called an Affinity Group. Affinity Groups are more community focused and are all about building relationships while having fun. These groups are a great way to meet new people and foster friendships while taking advantage of our great city in the Summer. At Soul City, Small Group sign-ups happen 3 times per year in the months of January, May and September. 2 Co-Ed Group 1 - Like a Boss: Leaders and Entrepreneurs Leaders: Bill Claus and Rachel This group is for entrepreneurs and leaders who want to build community Hanley and grow in understanding of God and the work place. This session, we are focusing on community and getting to know God's story of work with each Day/Time: Monday 8p weekly member. Each week, different members will give a "pitch" of their passion, or their work, and how God or spirituality plays a part. Co-Ed Group 2 - Wilderness Wanderers (Not-So) Anonymous Leaders: Anna Allen and Liz This group is for doubters, dark-night-of-the-soul-ers, the spiritually Ramirez frustrated, and other wanderers looking for kindred community. We promise no answers, quick-fixes, or platitudes - just a safe, judgement-free Day/Time: Wednesday 7p weekly space where members share their thoughts and experiences. We'll be Location: Humboldt Park / Logan Square keeping things light this session, using Liturgists podcasts combined with relaxed hang-outs and fun summer activities. Co-Ed Group 3 - Soul City Young Adults (20s & 30s Unmarried) Leaders: Ibie Hart and Zachary Do you feel like you float through Sunday morning without really Schoppen connecting to anybody? Are you looking for people to sit with in church? Or hang out with throughout the week? We are an open community of Day/Time: Sunday 2p every other week unmarried 20s and 30s hoping to establish roots here at Soul City by hanging out for an extra hour or two after the 12:30 service, and discussing practical applications of the sermon while also developing community that goes beyond Sundays. Don t worry, refreshments provided! Co-Ed Group 4 - The Life You Were Created to Live Leaders: Suzanne Baker Brown Exploring spiritual life? Mature follower of Jesus? Wherever you are in and Discussion Leaders your faith journey, if you are interested in digging deep into the Bible, developing supportive relationships, experiencing meaningful growth, and Day/Time: Tuesday 7p weekly discerning God s plan for day-to-day life and your future, then this is the group for you. Format is multiple committed small groups that meet for over an hour, then come together for large group teaching, spiritual practices, social and service activities. Topics for Summer include: Activate Your Design, Live Connected, and Stand on the Word. Co-Ed and Women's Groups sub-groups available. Couples and Men's sub-groups offered as well if enough sign up. Co-Ed Group 5 - Young Professionals Bible Study (20s & 30s) Leaders: Ashley Vander Linde NEW GROUP - We will be reading through the book of Romans throughout and Olivia Wagner the 8 weeks and discussing the chapters as a group and ways to apply it to our lives. This group is open to any level of bible knowledge. Come join us Day/Time: Monday 8p weekly for the Summer!

3 Married Couple's Group 1 - Wednesday Night Couples (Childcare Available) Leaders: Abby & Keaton We are an LGBT friendly married couples group - focusing on digging Wooden deep in how our thoughts, beliefs, and faith affect our marriages. We've read through the Bible, books on shame and vulnerability, and this Summer Day/Time: Wednesday 6:30p weekly will be discussing a series of podcasts together for a lighter Wednesday night meetup. Married Couple's Group 2 - Soul City Parents Leaders: Angel & Stella Collazo NEW GROUP - Join us as we discuss The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, by clinical psychologist Dr. John Gottman! This book reveals what successful marriages look like and shows valuable activities Day/Time: Sunday 2:30p weekly to strengthen couples relationships and create a new emotional depth in your friendship. If you re looking for practical & fun ways to attain your relationships highest potential and if you want to build community with other married couples who are parents, then this group is for you! Men's Group 1 - CORE Summer: Monday Night Men Leaders: Tim Anderson, Michael Bennett "50/50" Content and social outings. We will be partnering with CORE and Zachary Watts Unites (coreunites.com) as we watch 4 documentaries on some incredible men and the stories of how God changed their lives. Every other week we Day/Time: Monday 7p weekly will choose a fun outing to do as a group like mini golf, rock climbing, whirlyball, BBQ, or any of the amazing things Chicago summers may provide. Join us this summer as well grow together and have a lot of fun as men! Men's Group 2 - Friday Morning Men Leaders: Dan Andrews, Matt Linderman We are a continuing men's group who love to study scripture together. and Benjamin Nelson This session, our Bible studies will challenge and encourage us to live a life of integrity while serving God and their family, and reaching out to others. Day/Time: Friday 6:30a weekly Men's Group 3 - More Than a Carpenter Leaders: Steve Rousopoulos How do you respond when someone asks you why you believe in Christ? and Stephen Brown How rational is it to believe the stories about Jesus and the proclamations He made? We will be diving into these questions and more as we read Day/Time: Thursday 7p weekly through Josh McDowell's argument for how Christ was More Than a Carpenter.

4 Women's Group 1 - Conscious Gospel Living (20s & 30s) Leaders: Danielle Barnes, Kim A community for real, messy, Jesus loving women. We will be listening and Reitzel and Becky Taggart discussing different Christian podcasts that have been powerful to our lives. Day/Time: Wednesday 6:30p weekly Women's Group 2 - The Dinner Club (20s & 30s) Leaders: Angel Griffin, We are a continuing group with room to grow! Over the summer we will be Madison Sheafe and Annie building community by having weekly dinner either at restaurants we love Simon or at group members' homes. We will be using the summer to relax and Day/Time: Tuesday 6:30p grow closer as a group so that in the fall we can start strong with our next study. We'd love to have you join! Women's Group 3 - College-Aged Women's Small Group Leaders: Jen Brown and This continuing group is for college-aged women who want to make new Amanda Carpenter friends and dive deeper into the Bible. We'll be spending this 8-week session learning how to make God's word easier to understand and apply Day/Time: Monday 7:30p weekly to our lives today! Location: Pilsen Women's Group 4 - Moms Winning (Childcare Available) Leaders: Cynthia Alfaro A group to empower moms with the tools of faith, fellowship, gratitude and mindfulness. We will read a book together, meal plan/prep in the kitchen and take walks. Day/Time: Tuesday 6:30p weekly Women's Group 5 - Courageous Women Rooted in Jesus (20s - 40s) Leaders: Carly Beutel and NEW GROUP - Jesus and yoga? Yes! Our group seeks to create fellowship Lauren Sanders and community among women and to figuratively and physically root down through Jesus and the word of God. We will explore some Day/Time: Thursday 6:30p weekly courageous women of the bible and use movement to integrate worship and yoga. All are welcome! Come grow and flow in Christ together!

5 Affinity Group 1 - Moms of the 606 Leaders: Christine Gerling NEW GROUP - Join other moms as we walk/jog/run the 606 starting at the western access point. There is a park at the Eastern end where the kids can play while we catch our breath/keep chatting. Every week there will be a Day/Time: Wednesday 9:30a weekly different topic for us to pray about together while we are on the move. Location: The 606 Affinity Group 2 - Concerts at Millennium (Co-Ed) Leaders: Sarah Flagel NEW GROUP - Enjoy Chicago's summer fun at its finest with free concerts at Millennium Park! Bring some food and friends to hang out with fellow Soul City-goers, and relax to music from around the world. Day/Time: Thursday 6p weekly Location: Millennium Park Affinity Group 3 - This is Me (Co-Ed) Leaders: Rachel Blau and This summer we will be meeting for a casual community based meet up. Nathan Perry Each week 2-3 people will have the chance to share their favorite things/places and choose where we meet so we can enjoy the best of what Day/Time: Wednesday 7p weekly Chicago has to offer! We'll explore the groups favorite coffee shops, restaurants and fun city activities. Each person is encouraged to bring questions, prayer requests and any other conversation to the group. What's said here stays here. Let's go deeper and lean into our circle this summer! Affinity Group 4 - Mommy and Me Beach Group Leaders: Jenny Tole NEW GROUP - Grab your sunglasses and beach toys. Let s meet every Tuesday morning at 31st Street Beach at Burnham Harbor. We ll build community while the kiddos dig, build and splash! Day/Time: Tuesdays 10a weekly Location: 31st Street Beach Affinity Group 5 - Noon Ball (Men) Leaders: Stephan Gombis Day/Time: Sunday 12p weekly Location: West Loop (Skinner Park) NEW GROUP - Let s take advantage of the warmer weather, lace up our sneakers and take our basketball talents to the courts at Skinner Park. This is a great opportunity to meet up, get some exercise and connect with other neighbors who play basketball at Skinner park. If you attend the 10:30 service you should have enough time to change and get to the courts.

6 Affinity Group 6 - West Loop Run & Brunch (Co-Ed) (30s & 40s) Leaders: Jaime Scholz NEW GROUP - We'll run minutes followed by brunch at various neighborhood spots. We'll run for time, but if you're distance driven we'll average 3-7 miles. Come catch up on some miles, if you're not a runner - Day/Time: Saturday 8:30a come anyway and we'll circle back for brunch! Location: Mary Bartelme Park Affinity Group 7 - Women of Faith and Grace (30s) Leaders: LaToya Benson Join our continuing group of women as we take the Summer to enjoy the best that Chicago has to offer. We'll meet on Saturdays and try out different brunch places and explore our city! Day/Time: Saturday 12p weekly Affinity Group 8 - Men's Beach Social Group (20s) Leaders: Andrew Desmarais Join our Men's Group as we take advantage of the Chicago Summer on the and Drew Daum beach! We'll get together to play all different beach sports like sand volleyball, frisbee, spikeball and more. Day/Time: Sunday 5:30p weekly Location: North Avenue Beach Affinity Group 9 - Soul City Social (Co-Ed) (20s) Leaders: Max Reed, Mallory NEW GROUP - With an emphasis on social community, join us on an 8- Namoff and Austin O'Brien week adventure as we explore the city we live in and expect to build relationship with others along the way. This group is designed to connect Day/Time: Tuesday 6:30p weekly like-minded social individuals in their 20's, no matter where you are in your faith journey. Together we will navigate Chicago's neighborhood restaurants, bars, parks, and festivals alike. No week will be the same, as we aim to explore areas throughout the city but our discussions as well. Discussion topics will be centered around applicable podcasts and various forms of media. We look forward to be exploring with you! Affinity Group 10 - Sunday Funday (Co-Ed) Leaders: Giovanni Portogallo NEW GROUP - Summertime Chi is like no other. This group will be all and Tyler Summers about enjoying our incredible city with one another. Each week, we will be meeting in a different neighborhood, whether at a restaurant, park or Day/Time: Sunday 12:30p weekly beach. We want to be a group that is focused on building relationships, while exploring this great city! Affinity Group 11 - Soul City at the Movies (Co-Ed) Leaders: Chris Griffin and NEW GROUP - In the Summer, we are always looking for fun ways for our Baird Shattuck community to connect. This summer, we are excited to host Soul City at the Movies! This will be an opportunity to watch some of our favorite Day/Time: Saturday 6p monthly movies while connecting with new and old Soul City friends. This will be a great way to meet new people from our community! When you sign up for this "group," you won't be expected to attend for every movie; instead, you'll be put on our communication list and we hope you'll join us for whenever you can make it! And of course, we'll provide the popcorn!
