Hamlin, John Mulligan, Pat Lane, Lori Ruffen,, & ANNOUNCEMENTS: We received a warm Thank You from Christina Mein for the donation we made to the APHS Student Government Cancer fund raiser. We also received a Thank You from Carley Salerno for sending her to the 2018 Averill Park High School as a HOBY participant. PROGRAM: David gave us a new twist on Youth Protection Guidelines. After giving each of us a copy of the guidelines to read through he presented us with 20 Questions to see if we remembered from other years and to see if we had read our handout. A lot of good dialogue was shared. This format kept us on our toes and interested. If you do not have a copy of the guidelines David will give you or you a copy.

3 PRESENTAION: David concluded his well put together program with a picture of our President Stu Nippes leaning on the podium and rolling his eyes probably because we wouldn't shut up for him. Actually, it was a great way to thank Stu for his 9 years of perfect attendance in our club. BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: Well, Peg Weiss and Craig Daniels were present to have us sing Happy Birthday to them and we missed a chance to sing to Nancy Davis and Miller Young. There were no wedding anniversaries this month. We all enjoyed Eve s beautifully decorated cake. HAPPY DOLLARS: $ David Booker gave a dollar as he was among those who attended an enjoyable dinner by the Rev. Francis Kelley Society honoring the 2018 Hometown Heroes which focused on our John Brownrigg. $ Pat Lane gave one for the Poestenkill Schools great Fun Run fund raiser where they raised $26,282 in one day. She was also to be here with nice people and away from the rain. $ Jim Colabelli gave a happy dollar for the nice evening out with Phyllis and Kevin Sarsfield, Phyllis was going stir crazy having had foot surgery. They went to 4Brothers in Valatie. Now Jim's other dollar was very well received by our club. He admits he doesn't usually spend as much on a tool as he just did but in describing his purchase all of our minds went into either the gutter or into health class in the 8 th grade. Jim does turn a beautiful color red when he is either embarrassed or blushing. In truth he told us he bought a strap-on tool from Stihl to blow the leaves away. Thanks for all the laughs Jim. $ Then Pat got up to give another dollar as when she talked to an old friend today the woman could not see WHY she would go to such a boring group. Her friend Annie just has no idea how much fun we can have. $ Stu Nippes gave a buck just to thank Jim for the laughs. DRAWINGS: once again three of the unpurchased meals were saved from the embarrassment of being given away when three members purchased them. DOOR PRIZE: provided by David, was won by Frank Lewandusky and he got the extra dinner too. 50/50: was won by Joe Trupia who went home with $18. PROGRESSIVE 50/50: worth $ this week, after we added $16.50 and poor Rose could only find the 10 of Diamonds.

Acceptance of Treasurer s report: The report was accepted as presented. Committee reports: for activity in October. Communications (Behson) Club bulletin (Behson, Lane, Mulligan, Loveridge, Sarsfield, Rogers & Booker): Two members spent four hours taking pictures at the meetings; three members reported 11 hours taking notes and transcribing for four of the five regular meetings (no notes taken at the Club Installation); one member reported hours editing meeting transcriptions, making photo additions for Sandpiper editions and for website publishing for the four issues submitted. Community Lettered Signs (Whipple): It was requested that the signs be relettered to reflect the information of the November 10 Pasta Dinner. No report received. Facebook: (Jen Glasser/Behson): Two members devoted three hours to Facebook management and postings. Print media articles (Loveridge, Malecki): Two members reported 2.5 hours preparing an article for publication in the Advertiser and follow up on an article. Web site (Booker) one member spent 4 administrative hours on the club s web site and Portalbuzz. Administrative (Behson): One member spent one hour compiling the committee activity report. Club Calendar (Behson) Reported that four members spent 16 hours on calendar planning, layout and solicitation of sponsorships. Club Meetings (Stevens) Nine members assisted with setting up, breaking down and storing the meeting paraphernalia and/or taking attendance and collecting for the meal at one or more of the five regular meetings - estimated 9.25 hours. Community Services (Glasser) Doors of Hope (Ginther/Daniels) Eight members volunteered ten total hours unloading and storing food items from one or both of the two deliveries from the Northeastern Regional Food Bank (50162 lbs.) during October.

5 Membership & Education (Brownrigg) No report of activity received. One prospective member attended two meetings in October. Programs (Brownrigg) There were programs at each of the five regular meetings in October. Social Committee (Malecki/Ward) 33 members and guests attended the annual Club Officer Installation. Spiritual Aims (Pasquarelli) There was no report submitted for the month of October. Sponsored Youth (Lane/Mulligan/Malecki/Nippes/Hamlin) Key Club (Mulligan): The Club Advisor attended four Key Club meetings for a total of five hours. Algonquin Middle School Builders Club (Lane): The Club Advisor attended three Builders Club meetings for a total of 4½ hours. 10 Key Club members and their Faculty Advisors joined the Builders Club at the Builders Club meeting and worked with them on the Stars for Troops Project lead by Susan Wells. Among the kits produced were Stars to be given out at the Nov. 10 Pasta Dinner. Miller Hill/Sand Lake Elementary Schools K Kids (Hamlin): The advisor was unable to meet with the club in October. Poestenkill Elementary School K Kids (Hamlin): New Club Advisor: Jean Hamlin. She attended two meetings (four hours total) and met with the five Faculty Advisors. The club held elections, decided on two major projects for the year: a food drive and the school store. There are 45 members. West Sand Lake K Kids (Malecki): No report received for activity in October. Seen posted on the APCSD Facebook page: Some WSL K-Kids, parents and teachers attended the Leatherstocking Honor Flight sendoff ceremony this past Saturday (October 28) at Albany Airport. A picture was included. Ways & Means (Nippes) Pasta Dinner (Loveridge): No dinner held in October due to renovations at the WSL Fire Hall. November s dinner to honor the veterans on 11/10/2018. Dinners at the WSLFD Hall to begin again in December. Food Trailer Sales: It had to be estimated, as no report was received, that 64 hours staffing and transporting the trailer were volunteered by 13 members during the month of October. Young Children Priority #1 (Loveridge) No report received for October activities. Youth Services (Lane): The committee chair visited with three school nursed for a total of 2 hours and with the help of her grandson designed the form for this year's Thanksgiving and Christmas program (one hour.) Ad hoc committees: Update on the calendar project was presented. Old business: Membership 50/50 program: (Tabled to the Membership Committee for report) No report Pasta Dinner: Report on status of 11/10/2018 Veterans Dinner preparations. New Business (previously introduced): Results from the Summerfest Survey: Results of survey presented (copy to be attached to meeting s minutes.) Approve $ for Sand Lake Center for the Arts student scholarships: Approved. Approve new fund raiser Beatles Tribute Band Concert at APHS: Committee of President Nippes, Brownrigg, Loveridge & Behson appointed to report back to club. Request for Leave of Absence: Jerry Tysiak: Approved. Approve purchase of Food Only Gift Cards for the Holiday Food Basket Program: $3000 approved. Approve sponsorship of APHS sophomore to the HOBY CLeW event at SUNY Oneonta - May 31 through June 2 ($200.): Approved. Other New Business: Renewal of Adopt-A-Highway agreement: Authorized to renew. Audit Committee: President Nippes to appoint members. Meal choices: President Nippes reported that he had initiated discussion with the restaurant about meal choices and a possibility of ordering off a short menu. Introduction of New Business to be considered at the December 3, 2018 Board Meeting: Donation of $1000 to REACH Donation of $500 to the Averill Park Youth Soccer League
