2 Spouses, Welcome back to the MGOSC; the weather is still hot and so is our group this year. :-) We are excited to have over 50 talented new members and a great group of spunky spouses returning. Thanks to Kellie Donaldson, our special activities luncheon in August was a huge success. There are so many great options available for meeting new friends and becoming involved in the MGOSC. I personally signed up for Bowling, Bunco, Lunch Bunch, and Book Club. Oh my! Our board is almost full and we have some great talent joining us. In fact, our new programs chair, Jill Waarvik, and her co-chair, Eliana Mansfield, have something special planned for September 20th. Mark your calendars and look for your invite. A full list of our monthly functions and their themes will be provided at our September social. We have some exciting events planned, and you won't want to miss them! If you are still looking for an opportunity to be even more involved with our organization, please consider joining our board. Check out the vacancy section of the newsletter for all the details! Barbara Straw 1st Vice President In addition to all the fun social events we have planned this year, please don t forget we are a charitable organization too. Did you know the MGOSC contributes to various base, local community, and national charities and organizations? During the Board Year, our charitable distributions were nearly $50,000, including $20,000 in scholarships. Our main source of revenue is the Maxwell Thrift Shop located on Maxwell AFB. The Thrift Shop will gladly accept your donations or consignments, and any hours you can volunteer are greatly appreciated, too!! Please contact our Thrift Shop Liaison, Rosemary Glass, if you would like to lend a hand. Kacy Rizer 2nd Vice President 2
