Reporting to: Nicola Wood, Programme Manager Duration of contract: Fixed term until 31 October 2019 Working Hours: Flexible, but sessions will take place during the hours of 9am -5pm. Qualifications & Experience: Educated to degree level in visual/applied art. Professional qualification in art therapy. Experience in delivering 1:1 Art therapy. Experience in delivering art therapy with children or young people. Registration (Essential) Membership or willingness to join Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme (PVG) for working with children. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Registration (Desirable) Membership of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and knowledge of BAAT Code of Ethics. 3 Background Impact Arts Young Gallery Art Therapy Project has been running for three years, providing children in the East End of Glasgow with the opportunity to engage in 1:1 Arts Therapy. With support from the Corra Foundation, Children in Need and Scotch Whisky Action Fund, the project has been given a further years funding to continue 1:1 art therapy but also to commence dyadic art therapy sessions for parent/carer and child. The project specifically works with primary school aged children who are/have been affected by drug or alcohol misuse in the family unit. Purpose Impact Arts are recruiting a number of freelance art therapists to join our full-time art therapist and work on a flexible basis to deliver 1:1 art therapy with children and/or dyadic art therapy with parent/carer and child. Participants engage in the project for 30 weekly sessions over the course of a year, each lasting approximately 1 hour. However, where scope and need dictate, there may be more intensive individual programmes required (i.e 2-3 times per week) Main Responsibilities: Initiate and implement 1:1 art therapy programmes for children and/or parent/carer and child referred to the Young Gallery Art Therapy programme. Assess, develop and implement individual therapy/psychotherapy sessions in relevant art forms for children on a 1:1 basis, and/or dyadic therapy/psychotherapy sessions for parent/carer and child. Make psychological formulations, clinical judgements (including risk assessments) and provide recommendations for participant care. Identify with Impact Arts core team, the potential developments for each participant through the process of art therapy. Joint working with the team of art therapists and other professionals as and when appropriate. Effective communication with participants and other professionals, co-workers and programme managers. Contribute to the ongoing development of a medical art therapy model for future use over the course of the project. Provide reports relevant to the service as required. Encourage participants to explore their art and think about what it means to them. Monitor the development of the participant over the course of art therapy sessions and record the impact of the work on the young person (and parent/carer where appropriate).

4 Share information with Impact Arts about the participant/s where appropriate, and any disclosed information that may put the safety of the child or anyone else involved in the case at risk. Make the process of art therapy as transparent as possible to Impact Arts whilst remaining within the confidentiality of the art therapy framework. Provide paperwork outlining plans, process and developments of the young person. Contribute to the overall monitoring, reporting and evaluating of the Young Gallery Art Therapy project. Ensure risk assessment and health and safety policies are followed. Participate in training, meetings and events as required. Support and promote Impact Arts values. Any other duties as appropriate to the post, in line with Impact Arts needs. Qualifications and Experience Educated to degree level in visual/applied art. Professional qualification in art therapy. Experience in delivering 1:1 Art therapy. Experience in delivering art therapy with children or young people. Desirable: qualification in Dyadic art therapy. Desirable: experience in delivering dyadic art therapy sessions. Desirable: experience in delivering art therapy with primary aged children (5-12 years).
