6 Target Audience: Orthopaedic Surgeons, Doctors of Podiatric Medicine, and any other health care professionals whose scope of practice includes foot and ankle surgery. Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: Apply principles and surgical techniques for management of sports and tendon injuries in the foot and ankle; Perform surgical techniques for management of complex fractures in the foot and ankle; Demonstrate surgical techniques for management of arthritis and complex deformities in the foot and ankle; Understand and perform surgical approaches facilitating access to the foot and ankle. Course Overview: This is a two and a half day CME symposium that focuses on comprehensive diagnosis, management and surgical treatment of orthopaedic diseases involving the foot and ankle. Through the unique expertise of distinguished faculty experts from both orthopaedic and podiatric disciplines, the course sets out to deliver up-to-date information in the specific topic areas of foot fractures, forefoot injuries and complications, reconstructions, deformity corrections, ankle arthritis, and soft tissue repairs. The course format consists of lectures, interactive panel discussions with audience, difficult case controversies and handson surgical and technique training in a cadaver lab setting. In the laboratory, physicians will have the opportunity to evaluate several state-of-the-art technologies such as: surgical navigation, powered instrumentation, and hand instruments. The lab training will place a special focus on the following topics: Brostrom lateral ligament repair, achilles tendon repair, syndesmotic repair and Jones fractures, lapidus, hallux varus correction, Weil osteotomy, hammertoe, 1st MTPI fusion, achilles debridement and flexor hallucis longus (FHL) transfer, scarf osteotomy calcaneus, and subtalar fusion. Accreditation: Physician: Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide Continuing Medical Education to physicians. FORE designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
