Course Information ACTIVITY SUMMARY: The 15th Annual Carmel Conference gathers regional and national experts to discuss the latest advances in respiratory medicine. The diagnosis and management of interstitial lung diseases (ILD) is one of the most complex tasks faced by physicians, advanced practice and allied health professionals. Friday s program focuses on the multidisciplinary approach to this heterogeneous group of diseases with an emphasis on fundamentals, including diagnosis, radiology, management, as well as symptom control and newer drug therapies. Day Two of the program continues with lung cancer, with updates on approaches to staging and new biologic therapies, then concluding with a multi-disciplinary panel and case review. After lunch, the program reconvenes with bronchiectasis as the primary topic and includes talks on primary ciliary dyskinesia and cystic fibrosis, among others. TARGET AUDIENCE: The program is designed for all health care professionals involved with the care and treatment of patients with lung cancer, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung disease, as well as corollary health issues. This includes physicians, respiratory therapists, NPs, PAs, RNs, CNSs, pulmonary fellows, pharmacists and scientists. Educational Objectives* Define Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) and describe common trends in epidemiology and treatment Describe diagnostic approaches to ILD; including use of HRCT Identify 3 key manifestations of hypersensitivity pneumonitis Describe the role of diagnostic testing in connective tissue associated ILD Discuss 2 priorities in the diagnosis and treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Identify 2 diagnostic criteria for sarcoidosis Describe priorities for symptom management in ILD Discuss 2 key multidisciplinary approaches to management of ILD Identify the role of lung transplantation in ILD Discuss the options for obtaining a diagnosis of a lung mass Describe the treatment modalities, including molecular targeted therapies, that are now available for lung cancer Recognize and be able to manage pulmonary manifestations of lung cancer and toxicities from its therapies Compare and contrast the radiographic appearance and initial presentations for different potential etiologies for bronchiectasis Summarize the therapeutic modalities that are available for managing patients with bronchiectasis Describe the advances in diagnostic approach to patients with primary ciliary dyskinesia Discuss the role for small molecule inhibitors in the management of patients with cystic fibrosis List the changes in the TNM staging system for lung cancer *A complete list of educational objectives has been posted to the CTS website:
