2 INFORMATION Statement of Educational Need The purpose of this annual scientific meeting is to help attendees increase their understanding of therapeutic strategies for evaluation and treatment of complex pain patients, learn to care for patients with chronic pain complicated by other medical problems, and better utilize the multidisciplinary team approach to chronic pain management. Target Audience The target audience includes healthcare providers who evaluate and treat patients with chronic pain complaints. This audience includes physicians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and pharmacists. Objectives Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to: Describe and discuss methods by which to form a multidisciplinary pain team in the local community Recognize when to request consultation for advanced pain diagnosis and treatment for patient Describe and discuss state of the art diagnosis and treatment modalities for the chronic pain patient Accreditation This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Vanderbilt School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and the Southern Pain Society. Vanderbilt School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Designation of Credit Vanderbilt School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
