3 2013 Cmmunity Health Assessment Reprt Stakehlder Meeting Summary Event Overview DeKalb Medical and DeKalb Cunty Bard f Health cllabrated t prvide an verview f health issues affecting residents in DeKalb Cunty, Gergia and the Hillandale area (i.e., Lithnia and Redan) in the 2013 Cmmunity Health Assessment Reprt. The purpse f the sessin was t present key findings frm the reprt and t identify pririties fr health imprvement and ptential cmmunity resurces. This was accmplished by a series f activities that prvide a mutual exchange f infrmatin, ideas and resurces between cmmunity members, the hspital and the health department. Stakehlders that were invited and attended the sessin included cmmunity members, nnprfit rganizatins, the private sectr, lcal gvernment and universities that live and wrk in DeKalb Cunty. They have the knwledge abut the cmmunity its needs, cncerns, issues t assist DeKalb Medical in mbilizing cmmunity partnerships and t identify and slve health issues affecting DeKalb Cunty residents. Key Findings Presentatin Key findings frm the 2013 Cmmunity Health Assessment Reprt were presented t attendees. The reprt examines the health status f residents in DeKalb Cunty and the Hillandale area (i.e., Lithnia and Redan). Small Grup Activity Five small grups were each given excerpts f the 2013 Cmmunity Health Assessment Reprt t review and discuss. The grups were then asked t answer the fllwing questins: What d yu mst like abut the sectin and why? What d yu least like abut the sectin and why? What d yu think abut the wrding f the sectin? Hw clearly d yu think the graphs, tables and maps present the data and why? What cmmunity resurces d yu knw abut that can assist DeKalb Medical in addressing the health issues discussed in this sectin? The small grups were next asked t identify three key findings frm their sectin. Belw is a summary f the respnses received frm each grup. Injury Attendees mst liked hw easy it was t read the graphs, the mapping f the ER visits and the amunt f data prvided verall. Participants least liked that the reprt lacked the fllwing: graphs fr unintentinal versus intentinal injuries, were nt included, the percentages f blacks and whites in the entire cunty, injury types by clr n the ER Visits map and the designatin f cities n the map. Attributes f this sectin that participants liked least included the lack f cmparisn data (such as that f the state f Gergia), stating that a descriptin f the ppulatin (scial-ecnmics, educatin and size) is nt referenced. Participants als least liked the existence f health disparities. Specifically fr the Maternal and Child Health sectin, it was suggested preventin tips shuld be placed in the related sectin (fr example, place healthy pregnancy tips near pregnancy data). Participants least liked that this sectin was nly in English, that the data d nt reflect the racial/ethnic disparity, the lack f clarity (i.e., what the data mean), that there were nt mre specificatins (i.e., demgraphics f the ppulatin), that there was a lack f prtable fact sheets/cards, that big picture statistics f DeKalb Cunty were nt included (i.e., 1 in every ) and that there were n dcuments that detailed strategic target interventins fr ppulatins. 6

A ttal f 17 attendees cmpleted the questinnaire. Participants were asked t ask t rate statements cncerning the meeting n a scale f 1-5; 1-Strngly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-Neutral, 4-Agree, 5-Strngly Agree.
