1 Stevenson High School Choral Guild November-December 2017 QUARTER NOTES Congratulations to the following students selected for the respective Illinois Music Education Association choirs: ILMEA Concert Choir: Katie Coughlin (soprano), Nitya Kavuluri (alto), Emily Lee (soprano), Anabelle Lee (alto), Samhita Madduru (alto), Saumya Malhotra (soprano), Elisabeth Schmitt-Wagner (soprano), and Sarah Strezewski (soprano). ***The Concert Choir Festival will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 3:00 at Glenbrook North High School. SHS CHORAL GUILD SUMMER 2017 MUSIC CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS The Choral Guild offers scholarships to students who expand their vocal skills during the summer at music camps and programs, and then apply their skills in choir the following school year. If you attended a music camp or program last summer, you may be eligible for a scholarship. Scholarship applications for camps attended in summer 2017 must be submitted to the Choral Guild President, Dana Litwin, no later than November 5, If you have questions, please contact Dana at danalitwin@hotmail.com or Completed applications can be ed to Dana or given to the choir directors in an envelope marked to Dana s attention. Scholarship applications can be found at the end of this newsletter. We have a Facebook Page!!! Stevenson High School Choral Guild Next Choral Guild Meeting Holiday Celebration December 4 It s never to early to celebrate the season. Join us for treats and socializing at 6:30. The meeting will begin at 7 pm in the choir room. Band parents going to the concert are welcome to join us for a few minutes before heading off.

Purchase either: Physical Gift Cards or E-Cards-print them at home!! If you have any questions about this program, please contact Gina Weiner@ gtw9494@comcast.net Musical Concessions Tradition! Cheesecake orders were due Nov. 3 Pick-up is Nov. 18 8:30-10:30 am in the Glass Commons (parking lot C) Quickly coming up is the fall musical Fiddler on the Roof. We will again be asking for volunteers to bake and volunteers to man the concessions table during intermission on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18. The fall musical is the largest choral concessions of the year, so all help is greatly appreciated. Questions? We re looking for volunteer bakers/buyers to bring international traditional treats (think kugel, rugelach, biscotti, croissants, kolaczki, baklava, jalebi, puto, etc) along with traditional American treats. 5 Coming in January SHS Choral Guild Fundraiser Pine River Snack Favorites Keep a look out in your inboxes for more information coming in December/January. Pine River Snack Favorites offers a vast array of over twenty luscious chocolates, fresh snacks, and sweet treats. As always, this fundraiser is completely OPTIONAL; students will receive 50% profit for their student accounts from this fundraising opportunity. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES The Choral Guild Needs You!! 9 SHS CHORAL GUILD SUMMER 2017 MUSIC CAMP SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION The Choral Guild has a tradition of offering scholarships to students who expand their vocal skills during the summer at music camps and programs, and then apply their skills in choir the following school year. Application Requirements: The student must be a member of a Stevenson Choir (not just a co-curricular group) for both semesters following the summer program. The student s family must be dues-paying members of the Choral Guild for the year A scholarship application must be fully completed and include the required signatures. Applicants should include documentation showing cost/payment for program and successful completion of the program, if available. Scholarship applications for camps attended in summer 2017 must be submitted to the Choral Guild President by the deadline of November 5, Reimbursement: After the application deadline, the Choral Guild will review applications, and depending on available funds and the number of qualified applicants, will reimburse the parent/guardian for an amount up to half the cost of the program, not to exceed $ Reimbursement will be made in December SUMMER 2017 SHS CHORAL GUILD -- MUSIC CAMP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Submit by Nov. 15, 2017 to Choral Guild President Dana Litwin (danalitwin@hotmail.com).
