From the Principal s desk : Mr. Baker What a wonderful experience it has been to be the Principal of this fine school now for half this year. At this time of year, you think about the things you are thankful for and for me it is this great staff, district, kids and parents that I work with daily. I also want to thank you for your support for our recent bond issue. The culture around school is so excited and fifth grade will have a great new home in a couple years. As the snow comes, remember to take your kids out and play in the snow! Some highlights from first half of the year: 1. State testing results from spring 2015 show BVMS above Big Walnut and Delaware City in achievement scores from 16/20 areas. 2. Our student athletes continue to amaze us by winning titles in football and cross country 3. Bond issue passes by 2 votes! 4. Raised almost $1000 for Veterans

3 As an FYI, early indicators are that this season's influenza vaccine matched really well with the circulating influenza strains. This is from the ODH website: Influenza Virus Characterization: CDC has characterized 91 influenza viruses [18 A (H1N1)pdm09, 57 A (H3N2), and 16 influenza B viruses] collected by U.S. laboratories since October 1, CDC has characterized 375 influenza viruses [17 A (H1N1)pdm09, 277 A (H3N2), and 81 influenza B virus] collected by U.S. laboratories from May 24 September 30,2015. To date, all but one of the viruses that have been characterized have been found to be genetically similar to the viruses included in the influenza vaccine. As a reminder, if you have anyone, child or adult, who needs their influenza vaccine, we do have the vaccine in stock and we still have FluMist! Feel free to refer anyone interested in getting their vaccine to our clinic by calling Special announcements Need homework help? Offered to all middle school students from 2:30 3:30 on Tuesday's and Thursday's starting Tuesday with a certified teacher. This is a free service but transportation by the family will need to be provided. Interested families please Mr. Baker, Principal, at bbaker@mybvls.org to reserve your spot today! Mrs. Wortz s Computer Tech. students, both A Day and B Day students, are required to have a flash drive for class. Please have the flash drive to school by Monday, January 18th. 8.
