2 Come to our next PTO Meeting on November 18 th at 10am in the Breadboard Re-Take day for DMS picture day will be Dec. 7 th For students who did not get their pictures taken back in October and for students who want to have their pictures retaken. Students who are coming for retakes should bring their individual packages BACK to the photographer. Order sheets are available in the school office or on-line at HOMEWORK CLUB Come use the beautiful library in our building!! Homework Club is Monday - Thursday after school in the library from 2:45-3:45. It is staffed by a teacher, and three of those days a MATH teacher runs it!! Students can come for all or part of the time and complete homework and get help if necessary. National Honor Society also sends a student to help tutor! Best of all, it is FREE!!!
3 DMS's community service group, R.A.P., organized a hat day in honor of Veteran's Day. We raised nearly $300, and all of the donations will benefit the Nathan Hall Outreach Center, which supports veterans in our community. Thank you to all of the students and staff who participated in a fun day for a great cause!

5 Fill the Truck on Thanksgiving Come support the Dragons and the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester on Thanksgiving Day! The Duxbury High School Football Team will be holding their Annual Toy Drive to benefit the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. Please bring an UNWRAPPED toy to the Thanksgiving Game and help fill the truck. Let s make this a special holiday season for every boy and girl! Kickoff is 10AM! REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for Duxbury Youth Wrestling! Register at Practices will start around 12/5/16. Hope to see you this season!
6 DSU News Rock The Vote Camp a great success!! Thank you to Duxbury voters exiting the polling booth for sharing their insights on the four ballot questions with Rock The Vote campers last Tuesday. These "roving reporters" enjoyed learning the pros and cons of each question and using their findings to help formulate their own opinions. Rock The Vote campers voted the same way as most Massachusetts residents except on Question 4, Marijuana commercialization and legislation. They heard about the concerns for edibles getting in the wrong hands of pets and children, the inability to test for drugged driving, the poor tax incentives that were negotiated and the "social costs" to our community. They were very surprised to wake up on Wednesday morning to discover the legalization and commercialization of marijuana had been approved. It's a great opportunity to reinforce your family values and expectations when children are confused about the benefits to Massachusetts. Halloween Giveback continues this week. Drop off at DSU or Kingsbury Club through November 18th. DSU is open 12noon-6pm Monday through Friday. Our Brownie Throwdown starts this week. The Duxbury Interfaith Council needs over 120 desserts for Thanksgiving baskets. Start a tradition with your children and bake a dozen brownies. Drop off at DSU anytime this week or at Holy Family Church next Monday. Cape Cod Cares for Troops Care Packing event Always on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, DSU takes volunteers and 500+ pounds of candy to Bourne MA to distribute in over 1500 care packages for troops abroad. It is a remarkable event, meeting volunteers, veterans and family members of troops deployed. If you want to start a sweet family tradition and give back to the troops, us at admin@duxburystudentunion.com. It is usually a 3 hour commitment (includes travel) but can be flexible to meet family schedules. Children must be accompanied by one parent. Duxbury FACTS news The marijuana ballot question passed. Now what happens? Come to the Duxbury FACTS meeting, Tuesday November 15th at 7:00pm The guest speaker is Duxbury resident, Julie Johnson, who is a marijuana policy and youth health researcher at Brandeis University and Boston Children's Hospital Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research. Julie will talk about the science of marijuana use on the teen brain and effects of policy in Massachusetts. Sue Bradford Executive Director
