2 2014 UPCOMING EVENTS Saturday, July 12th Annual Trek to the SF Giants Game Due to a tremendous response, this event is sold-out. However, if you d like to get on a waiting list, contact Carol or John Fraher at August Charity Event date not yet confirmed. 3 CHARITY COMMITTEE NEWS: The committee s goal for 2014 is to increase participation from our Lodge members in hosting the charity events. This year they are starting with a clean slate. All requests for 2014 charity funds must be submitted via form (which can be found at the lodge s website under the charity section) to Armand Dadoun, Charity Chairperson. The Charity committee will review and work with our members to help them run the event. We are looking for our members input. If you want to brainstorm an idea before you submit your request, feel free to talk to anyone on the committee: Charity Chairperson: Committee: Wounded Warrior Project charity event wrap-up Armand Dadoun Jenny Dadoun, John Fraher, Ralph Huerta, Rafael Huerta,Zvi Kirschenbaum, Ed Schneider, Tony Vicino, Ray Zerbib On Saturday, May 10 th a highly successful event was held at the American Legion Hall in Pacifica. The Committee was headed up by Ray Zerbib, and co-supervised by Jenny & Aramand Dadoun, and may others helped as well. A fantastic dinner consisting of chicken, sausage, and pasta was enjoyed, which was followed by several games of bingo. The prize table was groaning under the weight of all the gifts that were available. Many of the prizes were donated by members, (we do have the most generous of members!). The very BEST news in regard to this event was that $2,561 was raised for this worthy group. Angel Island Tour & Luncheon On Saturday, May 31 st, 70 members, family & friends enjoyed an outing to visit Angel Island. Folks departed from SF on the Blue & Gold Ferry, and ferried over to the Island. Upon arrival. lunch was enjoyed by all in the Hill site area. The guests then headed out on the trams to take a tour and learn more about the history of the Island. It took a lot of team effort in bringing the luncheon items over to the island, so a BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who helped. Another wonderful California Lodge #1 event. Annual Lodge Charity Golf Event This past Saturday, 32 golfers arrived to a beautiful day at Sunol Country Club to go out and have FUN! And that, they did. There were experienced golfers paired up with newbies (who did a great job!). The winning team of Ralph Huerta, Rafael Huerta, Dave Demarco and Alex Rodriguez brought home first place. The first place winnings will go the American Cancer Society. Afterwards the golfers, family and friends (almost 50 in total) headed over to the Valente s home in Fremont for a wonderful dinner and fellowship. Always fun is a little putting competition on Joe s course out in the backyard. Thank you to Carol & John Fraher, Sue & Rick Troia, and Joe and Vicki Valente!

4 TREATS RESPONSIBILITY Each meeting we bring wonderful treats to our lodge. Anyone doing this realizes it is a LOT of work! Most of us just do it once a year, so it may be hard to remember what is required. Following is a checklist to help when you are bringing treats: NOTE: Treats budget has been increased to $175 1) Sign up with Tammie Manini at (650) (or at a lodge meeting to arrange to bring treats) 2) The treats limit is $200, excluding drinks and paper products. They are already at the Lodge. 3) Arrive at the hall by 7:00pm, and arrange access by getting the lodge key from any of our five elected officers (see list at top of newsletter) 4) Make sure you know the combinations to the locks upstairs. Elected officers have combinations. 5) You will probably miss the meeting the night you have treats. If you need to report on something, get a helper. 6) When the treats are complete, you must clean up the hall. Along with help from the other members, make sure that the tables and chairs are put back. 7) You must lock all the cabinets upstairs as well as the hall when you are exiting the building. ATTENDANCE AND RAFFLE WINNERS: As an incentive to those who attend meetings, there is a name drawn at each meeting, and the winner receives a $$ prize. Our best wishes to you Jim on a speedy recovery New Odd Fellow website: Created by Odd Fellows for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. This consists of forums for open discussion on general topics and also gives members the ability to create blogs, add calendar events, etc. It is hoped that this will be a good platform to carry Odd Fellowship further to the world. Registration process is simple.
