1 YOU ARE INVITED TO THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA & TRANSPHOBIA GALA 2019 HOSTED BY MAY 17, 2019
2 HOW IS THE CCGSD LEADING THE WAY? EACH YEAR WE RUN OVER 52 DAY LONG 2SLGBTQIA+ FORUMS, OVER 1750 WORKSHOPS AND ARE ADVOCATES FOR OUR COMMUNITY The Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) is a national anti-bullying and anti-discrimination organization working in schools and communities across Canada. We are dedicated to fighting homophobia, transmisogyny, and transphobia, as well as other forms of discrimination, by educating youth and educators and giving them the tools they need to take action. Every year our programming reaches more than students and thousands of educators in hundreds of schools across Canada. The ripple effect of our programming is felt for months after each conference, as the youth we have worked with take action and become bulwarks against bullying and discrimination in their communities. For every dollar donated, the CCGSD is able to reach out and educate one more youth in your community. We were formerly known as Jer s Vision. THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PINK, BILL C16, TWO-SPIRIT INCLUSION, ORLANDO, MSM BLOOD BAN, GAY SWEATER.. We don't just stop at education, we continue our national work with campaigns that go across Canada & the world. These seek to empower communities to take action and give youth and adults the tools and opportunity to make their community better.
3 The Gender & Sexuality Alliance Forum is week long forum that brings over 100 youth from across the country to participate in leadership education. The students learn to be leaders in their schools and youth communities on topics of GSM (gender and sexual minority) identities, diversity, antibullying, anti-racism, and mental health skills that train them to successful run a GSA club and activities at their school. But the project is not the forum. Rather the impact of the work is that each youth goes back to a part of the country to be the LGBTQ+ Champion their community needs. Our youth set up gender neutral bathrooms, train teachers and start initiatives that create safer spaces. P L A T I N U M ( $ 1 5, ) As the presenting sponsor of the Gala, your support sends 30 youth to Forum. 6 Being yourself isn't always easy, so the CCGSD created the Gender & Sexuality Alliance Forum is week long forum that over 100 youth from across the country to participate in leadership education. The students learn to be leaders in their schools and youth communities on topics of GSM (gender and sexual minority) identities, diversity, anti-bullying, anti-racism, and mental health skills that train them to successful run a GSA club and activities at their school. But the project is not the forum. Rather the impact of the work is that each youth goes back to a part of the country to be the LGBTQ+ Champion their community needs. Our youth set up gender neutral bathrooms, train teachers and start initiatives that create safer spaces. LGBTQ2S+ SERVICE PROVIDERS NETWORK The LGBTQ2 + Service Providers Network stemmed out of the Centre s LGBTQ2+ Service Providers Summit s goal to create a network of professional supports to strengthen our collective capacity, presence, and bond as community members, allies and service providers. THE INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE (IPV) PREVENTION PROGRAM The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Prevention Program at the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity aims to increase capacity of LGBTQ2S+ agencies by providing them with tools, information on services, and training to support LGBTQ2S+ victims of domestic physical assault, sexual assault and emotional abuse and to increase their access to the criminal justice system. SPORTS INCLUSION PROGRAM The Sports Inclusion Program at the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity aims to challenge homophobia and transphobia in athletics to make sports a more accepting and inclusive pastime for all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation and/or gender identity. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS, LIKE THE GSA FORUM
7 WHY INVEST IN US? GSA FORUM SAVED ME ABOVE youth and Members of Parliament from Rainbow Day on the Hill WRITTEN BY SARAH Yep, that is me in the front row with the BIG smile, right next to the Prime Minister's LGBTQ Advisor. I know it sounds cheesey but the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity's GSA Forum saved me. I am from a rural town, I have never had my parents' support, and no one at school gets my 'trans'-ness. But that all changed at GSA Forum. I made friends for the first time. I found a psychologist. And I even created my schools first gender neutral bathroom. When Jeremy shared you might invest, I thought I wanna give him a reason why. So here is my story :) Thank you :) FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CALL ME JEREMY DIAS DIRECTOR INFO@CCGSD-CCDGS.ORG
