Fall, 2013 Hiking Along the Cancer Journey on the Ice Age Trail near Parnell. Interested in Moving from Couch to Two Miles in 7 Weeks? Tuesday, September 23 rd INFO MEETING Area cancer survivors interested in getting more active through walking/running to participate in the upcoming Couch to Two Miles in 7 Weeks program being offered by the Sheboygan Area Community Recreation Department! The class will take place between October 6 th and November 27 th. Attend the informational meeting on Tuesday, September 23 rd at 6PM in the Sheboygan South High School Commons to learn more (including meeting dates and times). SCCCF can cover the course fee for area cancer patients and survivors Contact Tim. CPN Hair Studio started 'Crazy Hair Day' 5 years ago during Millstreet Festival in Plymouth after a stylist, Paula Weiss, had been diagnosed with breast cancer the year before. CPN wanted a way to give back to those that helped Paula and that's how Crazy Hair Day started. We set up chairs outside the salon during Mill Street Festival and provide crazy hair spray colors to people for a donation to our choice of place/person for that year. CPN has chosen SCCCF a few times now because we are very thankful with the help they have provided for Paula and many other people in Sheboygan County! Stylist, Paula Weiss, also chose to start providing wig services at CPN Hair Studio as a way to help others. CPN provides a separate room to those who wish to keep their condition private. Paula works one on one with clients to find the right fit, color and style. Please join us next year for your 'Crazy Hair' and donate to SCCCF during Millstreet Festival at CPN Hair Studio!! Tim E. 3 SURVIVORSHIP THROUGH THE LENS SESSION ONE: Tuesday September 9 th 5:30PM Other Classroom Sessions Will Be Scheduled! First Field Trip (optional): September 19 th & 20 th! Has cancer altered the way you see the world? Back for a SECOND YEAR! Join us for this FREE outdoor digital photography workshop! Reflect on your cancer journey as you get outdoors and look through the lens of a camera, learn digital photography basics and connect with other cancer survivors. No experience is required and any digital camera will do (a cell phone camera or any point & shoot camera is all you need). With Returning Featured Photographer: Tom Friederichs About Tom Friedrichs: Tom bought his first SLR camera in 1983 and discovered that the combination of photography and an interest in the outdoors is a perfect match. Having a camera along while hiking, canoeing, and cross country skiing provided never-ending opportunities to capture images of nature at its best. Tom soon joined the Sheboygan Camera Club whose membership has been an excellent source of instruction and ideas. It wasn t long before photography became Tom s main motivation to get outdoors. He has learned that photography will challenge you, and can be both rewarding and frustrating at the same time. Photography is more than just a hobby; it is therapy, it is education; it can involve sport, culture, or art. Photography is for any age and for any lifestyle. Add it to your bucket list. Registration REQUIRED by Wednesday, September 3 rd! Register by calling Tim at Classroom/Sharing Sessions will be held in the MOA/SCBS second floor conference room, 1621 N. Taylor Dr., Sheboygan
