I hope everyone was able to enjoy Christmas and New Years with family and friends. As you may have stated or heard many times, 2018 will be an exciting year for the club. Construction is on schedule with only a few minor

2 changes and just as important we are within budget at this time. We will continue to keep everyone posted with updates as we continue towards completion. Over the week leading up to Christmas the club got some publicity on the progress of the new building since the year anniversary of the fire. WBOC with Outdoors Delmarva, WMDT 47 news, and Daily Times/Delmarva Now did follow up stories with pictures. Thanks to Laura Lockwood for planning our Family Christmas Party which was held at Redmen Lodge. We had 98 members and family attend! Santa made his appearance and the food was amazing. Thank you all for attending and participating. This was another proud and special event for the club with a lot more smiling faces than the previous year for obvious reasons. As we fight the potential cold weather we are still planning activities at Dock Tales or away from the grounds. We are looking for ways to keep everyone engaged and involved through the winter months. So please look at the Activities schedule and attend when you can. Any ideas to share for an activity please get with Laura. We always look forward to seeing everyone and getting together. A big Thank You to Tony Tank Redmen and Monie Gun Club for their generosity, not only for these events scheduled, but also for the year 2017 for providing their facilities for us to use. 3 Vice Commodores Report With the beginning of this New Year, please be aware that informational s to club members will now be sent out under the account So please make sure that this address doesn't get blocked by your spam checker. We will endeavor to keep our website as up to date as possible so that you can always go there for the latest news of club activities. As in the past, periodic s will be sent to you to keep you informed of progress on our new building, which is looking super and on schedule. Additional s will let you know specifics about Dock Tales when it reopens in mid-january. I wish you and yours a Happy New Year and I know it's going to be a great one for the Wicomico Yacht Club! Tom Rear Commodores Report Happy New Year!! This will be a very exciting year for WYC. Not to say last year wasn t. Thanks go out to Tom and his crew and all that volunteered. We had a great year. Special thanks to Laura for all of the successful activities she lined up for us. And thanks to our membership that supported these activities and Dock Tales. There were amazing turnouts. Dock Tales will reopen Wednesday, January 17 th, weather permitting and we will try and open during regular Dock Tale hours if the weather cooperates. We will keep you updated via and our website. Many of you may know by now that Clay Crown is no longer with us. We thank Clay for all of his effort this past year in helping to keep us going on our grounds. We still have great bartenders with Becca, Maisy, and Chad has done a great job putting out the food from our mobile kitchen. Please come out and support them and our club when we can open. We have discussed our options in regards to our restaurant, bar and our search has already begun. Our goal is to have good consistent food, reasonable prices and great service for our members and guests.

As of right now, all I can report on is we will be listing some cruises in the coming months, so keep an eye out if you are interested. We will have some of the same great trips and maybe some new trip or oldies but goodies that haven t been done in a while. Also, keep in mind it doesn t always have to be a boat trip, for all of us to have a good time. On another thought we would like to see some other yacht clubs and groups from around the bay or anywhere come to visit us with the new clubhouse this coming summer, so we will be working on that plan soon this coming year. 5 First Mates Report Sunday January 21 and February 25 will be our next two Turkey Shoots at the Monie Gun Club at 1 PM in Mt. Vernon. Sign-ups begin at noon. Once again, we encourage you to join us for an afternoon of comradery filled with friends; new and old, food, drinks and shooting! On January 20, JD McCurdy will be having a Membership Drive at Hoppers in Salisbury from 5-8 PM. The First Mates will be also looking to add to our membership that night and collect dues for Just a quick reminder how important the First Mates are to WYC and joining is a simple as $10! We will have wearables available for purchase that night. Come on down and bring your family for an evening with your friends and bring some new friends. The football Pool ended on what better day than Christmas! This month s winners were Scott Moore, Libby Hall, and Clay. If you have not received your money, my contact info is listed below. The crew at Hoppers had a blast with us last year and invited us back. Member Zach Johnson a.k.a. DJ Last Call will be providing entertainment. Guest bartender is our commodore, Peter Hanulak. The first mates will also be there selling WYC apparel. If an existing member brings a potential prospect, gets them to fill out an application and fee that night, they both will receive a free drink. Please spread the word, it will be a great event! Jamie Rebman Trailer Parking All trailers parked in the trailer area must purchase and display a red sticker numbered 200 or higher. This sticker can be purchased for $100. Preference in parking will be given to boats on trailers. These will be assigned specific parking spots. Storage trailers may park in any open spot but will not be assigned the spot in the event the spot is needed for boats on a trailer. POOL NEWS It's a New Year and time to start thinking about opening the pool. Deb Semski and I will be renewing our Pool Operator license.if you are interested, a class is being offered at Wor-Wic Tech Feb. 6-20th one day a week. The Club will reimburse anyone who takes the course and gets their license.
