ECOLE BEAIRSTO SCHOOL St. Vernon, B. C. V1T 4W7 Phone: Fax: Principal: Mme Lisa Priel Vice-Principal: M. Barry Mulvaney Our Remembrance Day Assembly was held on Tuesday, November 10 th. Merci beaucoup to all the classes who sang for us as well as the Grade 3 Junior Choir and thank you also to the Gr.6/7 students who recited in Flanders Fields and their own poems. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our guest speaker, Beverly Skaalrud, a Silver Cross Mother and to our Piper, Karen Campbell! Breakfast Club is starting Monday, November 16th! Thanks to our tremendous team of parent volunteers the Breakfast Club will once again be open every school morning from 8:00 8:35am! Merci beaucoup!
November is Movember at Beairsto! Who will be crowned Mr. Movember? Many of our male staff members have shaved their mustachios in order to raise awareness for cancer research. In our office there are boxes for donations. The boxes are different colors - red, green, blue and yellow. Students can donate according to their house color. At stake are many house points!!! The house that raises the most money will receive 100 bonus points! Please donate help support this worthy cause and mark your calendars: November 27 will be Mustache Day at Beairsto! New Beairsto Penguin: Beairsto is looking for a new penguin! We are hoping that one of our students might design this new version of our school mascot. The new penguin will adorn our new house t-shirts as well as our student recognition forms. The contest is open to all Beairsto students. The drawing must be done in black and white on an official contest form. (Available in the office.) Submissions will be accepted by Mr. Mulvaney until November 27 th at 3pm. The winning selection will be announced at an assembly in early December. So sharpen those pencils and get drawing!!!
Halloween for Hunger 2015 Some of our leadership students, with the help of Mr. Richard, took the food donations they collected at our Haunted House to the Vernon Food Bank! Beairsto Leadership is trying a new format for the school year. Students in grades 5-7 had the chance to put their names forward and vote for representatives from their class for our Leadership Council. The Leadership Council meets twice a month with M. Richard and Mme Lypchuk to plan our school s spirit days. Members of the council are responsible for bringing ideas to meetings, sharing leadership plans with their class, tallying points on spirit days and finding volunteers in their classes to make our ideas a reality. The Haunted House for Halloween was one of their first projects this year. Up next is a spirit day on November 27 th it will be Mustache Day! We hope that the projects they undertake this year raise school spirit! Wednesday Popcorn $1 As a part of their ongoing fundraising efforts, our Grade 7 students are selling popcorn on Wednesdays at lunch time. Popcorn is sold outside at the beginning of both Intermediate and Primary lunch hours.
How to complete your Criminal Record Check online: Thank you for volunteering your time in our school, École Beairsto! As a volunteer, you will need to provide us with an acceptable Criminal Record Check. This is available at no cost to you through the Ministry of Justice. Your completed e-crc will be sent directly to Mme Priel, via , and then kept on file here at the school for a period of 5 years. If you have already had an existing Criminal Record Check completed with another organization, please use the web link and access code below to complete a request to SHARE that criminal record check with us. Online Link: Access Code: E556H654FV (This access code is unique to Beairsto and must be used in order for us to receive your completed e-crc) Additional information about the CRRP is available on their website at or please feel free to contact them by phone at Hello Parents, PAC Lunch Program What a successful first Hot Lunch we had!! There were 136 orders placed, which led to a profit of just over $220.00! The day would not have been a success without the 8 parent volunteers that came out to help with our first Pizza Day! We had a lot of fun, and all of the volunteers were done by 12:15. If you are available on the second Thursday of the month, please consider coming in to help out at our PAC Lunches. We meet at the couches outside the office at 11:30. Just a reminder that the deadline for ordering PAC Lunch is the Friday before, but you can order up to the end of the year online now. The access code when logging in for the first time is BEAIRSTO. In accordance with the Provincial standards of providing a hot lunch program, our pizza will now be served on a multigrain crust. Please note that the price increase beginning in December reflects the cost of the multigrain crust. Did you know that all of the profits from our PAC Lunch go directly back to PAC, supporting our school programs? This includes, but is not limited to, the Grade 7 End of Year Trip! Thank you so much for your continued support. If we continue to have this much interest in the PAC Lunch program, we will consider offering it twice a month in the New Year. The PAC Lunch Team
Messages from Your Beairsto PAC ****************************************************************************************** Back to school is well behind us and our PAC is looking forward to the Christmas season! Be watching for our annual poinsettia order forms in your kids' agendas. This year poinsettia pick up is Friday, December 4th from 8am-8pm. Also on December 4th, we'll be hosting another movie night. Come decorate Christmas cookies, sing carols, and enjoy a movie! On Monday, November 23 rd all parents are welcome to attend our PAC general meeting. This is an important meeting as we'll be discussing, and voting on, how to spend PAC funds this year. There is still a vacant position on our PAC, so come check us out! And, as always, PAC is looking for volunteers. If you're free to help out on December 4 with poinsettia pick up or with the movie night, please us at beairstopac@hotmail.com.
