4 Keynote Speaker Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R TX), spent nearly three decades practicing as a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology before being elected to the United States House of Representatives in Congressman Burgess serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Energy and Power Subcommittee, the Rules Committee, and the Helsinki Commission. Congressman Burgess is also the founder and Co- Chair of the Congressional Health Caucus. Congressman Burgess is a strong advocate for healthcare legislation aimed at reducing health care costs, improving choices, reforming liability laws to put the needs of patients first, and ensuring there are enough doctors in the public and private sector to care for America s patients and veterans.
