This project will design and construct an extension of Newhall Ranch Road from Copper Hill Drive to I-5 (the Cross Valley Connector). This eight-lane roadway will include landscaped medians, parkways, and a Class I bicycle path. The CVC will provide for a much needed east-west corridor and alleviate congestion along Soledad Canyon Road. The CVC will also provide enhanced access to existing and planned commercial and industrial uses in the Valencia area. 3 MAGIC MOUNTAIN PKWY./I-5 PHASE II Project Number: S12 Magic Mountain Parkway from the Old Road to the northbound I-5 on-ramp. This is a jopint City-developer effort to reconstruct the I-5 Magic Mountain Interchange. Previous efforts provided for City oversight of the design phase of this project. Future funding will provide for construction of the improvements. This construction effort is consistent with the City's Circulation Element. The City has a vested interest in being directly involved in all design aspects of this vital project. 4 BRIGHTON STREET DRAINAGE Project Number: S18 In the vicinity of Brighton and Wilmington. This project will design and construct mitigation work to properly drain underground water in the vicinity of the intersection of Brighton and Wilmington in the Northbridge area to repair and reconstruct damaged street infrastructure. The existing intersection has settled and is in need of repairs. The roadway settlement is causing sump and ponding water, creating an unhealthy environment. Making the necessary repairs to the roadway is consistent with the City's commitment to sound infrastructure. 5 BOUQUET CANYON ROAD BRIDGE WIDENING Project Number: S135 Bouquet Canyon Road over the Santa Clara River. This project will widen the Bouquet Canyon Road bridge over the Santa Clara River from six to eight lanes. The road widening will also include the construction of a raised median and a barrier rail with decorative ceramic tile. Bouquet Canyon Road is classified as an eight-lane roadway in the Circulation Element of the City's General Plan. 8 SIERRA HIGHWAY OVER THE RAILROAD - BRIDGE WIDENING Project Number: S39 On Sierra Highway south of Soledad Canyon. This project will provide for environmental clearance, design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction costs for the replacement of both the northbound and southbound bridges on Sierra Highway crossing over the railroad to accommodate six lanes of traffic and a walkway. This project will enhance traffic circulation in this heavily traversed area. This project will construct a bridge over the Santa Clara River. The bridge over the Santa Clara River is a critical link of the Cross Valley Connector (CVC). Improvements will also include a Class I bicycle path. This link is an integral component of the Cross-Valley Connector (CVC), a much-needed east-west corridor that will alleviate congestion along Soledad Canyon.
