Dear SEAP Member, WELCOM E I am excited to be hosting the 66th Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics (SEAP) in the beautiful and vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia.

2 Dear SEAP Member, WELCOM E I am excited to be hosting the 66th Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics (SEAP) in the beautiful and vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia. There are many outstanding features of each SEAP meeting: outstanding speakers, pertinent and informative lectures, beautiful venues to name a few. We also have a great outing for the spouses to the Atlanta History Center where they will tour the Swan house and the Smith Family Farm and also enjoy a delicious luncheon. Saturday night dinner and program promises to be something special as we will be entertained by the band know as Banks and Shane. They have entertained audiences all over the world, have 12 albums, and have even performed for the Queen of England! I really look forward to catchingup with old friends and meeting new ones. Our meetings have a special flair for hospitality and camaraderie among our membership, guests, and exhibitors. Take a moment to review the meeting schedule and activities planned. Course Information Contemporary Approach to Complex Restorative Cases Dr. Thomas McDonald 8 CEUs Most modern dentists have developed vast knowledge in esthetics, occlusion, and restorative dentistry. However, when presented with a complex case many clinicians have difficulty deciding where to start, what materials to use, and the proper sequence for treatment. With modern ceramic materials and implants, the chance for catastrophic failure due to interference with function is greatly increased. Dr. McDonald will discuss proper positioning of the teeth utilizing functionalesthetic guidelines and outline a system for diagnosis and treatment sequencing of complex restorative cases through segmental restoration with modern materials. This approach is more technically achievable for the clinician and laboratory technician and certainly more feasible for the patient. Course Objectives: 1. Appreciate the clinical steps for accurate occlusal records and development of essential diagnostic information. 2. Understand how functional principles affect the size, shape, and position of our restorations. 3. Learn current strategies for treatment staging and the importance of segmental restoration for clinical predictability and patient acceptance Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office: A Focus on Preparation and Prevention Dr. Michael E. Pruett 4 CEUs This course will review common emergencies in the dental office and provide an overview of necessary emergency equipment. Dr. Pruett will also review protocols to manage emergencies as a complete office. Course Objectives: 1. Recognize and treat common medical emergencies that arise in the dental office. 2. Prepare an office with the appropriate equipment and drugs for management of medical emergencies. and Pharmacology Update for Today s Dental Practice Dr. Pruett will review drugs that impact your daily practice and will also review new drugs and the potential effect on your practice. Course Objectives: 1. Recognize drugs that impact dental care. 2. Develop strategies for managing patients related to their drug therapy. Dentists who attend all lectures will earn a total of 12 CEUs. Each continuing education activity is presented in a lecture format, with audio-visual accompaniment and an opportunity for questions. SEAP reserves the right to change the meeting schedule if deemed necessary. At the conclusion of each lecture attendees should be able to understand and have full knowledge of each of the objectives listed below each course. No prior knowledge or skill level is required before attending these courses.

Speakers Bio: Dr. Tom McDonald received his dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. He maintains a fulltime restorative practice in Athens, Georgia. Since 1983, Dr.

Since 1983, Dr. McDonald has served on the faculty of Augusta University Dental College of Georgia (formerly Medical College of Georgia) as Clinical Instructor of Oral Rehabilitation. A frequent lecturer in the area of occlusion, restorative dentistry, esthetics, and provisional restorations, Dr. McDonald has lectured and presented hands-on courses at most national meetings over the past 30 years. A dedicated clinician and teacher, he serves as an opinion leader for several dental manufacturers, publishes technique articles and webinars, and serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Michael E. Pruett is Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Sciences, and Director of the General Practice Residency Program at The Dental College of Georgia. He received his DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, and then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Virginia. Upon completion, he became the Director of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and also served as the Assistant Program Director of the General Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Pruett has placed and restored dental implants for the last 26 years and maintains an active hospital dentistry practice within the Dental College of Georgia. He is the co-director of the AU/AAID Maxi-Course and several other hands-on continuing dental education courses at Augusta University; which include implant placement, sinus augmentation, and I.V. Sedation. Dr. Pruett lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a Diplomate in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
