6 Statement of Need: The last several years have seen rapid advances in the field of retinal imaging. We have witnessed widespread adoption of fundus autofluorescence and spectral domain OCT and, soon, swept source OCT devices as well. Additionally, adaptive optics is becoming a more common way to image the retinal microstructure. Several new ultra-widefield imaging systems are scheduled to be released in the upcoming year. Additional new technology such as hyperspectral imaging and tools to noninvasively evaluate the retinal microvasculature are soon to follow. It is critical that retinal specialists remain up-to-date on these emerging technologies in order to provide the best care for their patients. As these new devices are technically complex, and the subtleties of interpretation of the acquired images is challenging, it is important to have instructional courses such as the IRIS II meeting available to the clinicians who will be using this complex technology. Program Objectives: North Shore-LIJ Health System CME activities are intended to improve patient care, safety, and outcomes. Objective 1: Summarize new innovations of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) including swept source OCT so course participant may enhance skill in management of retinal /choroidal disorders such as choroidal tumors. Objective 2: Discuss the benefits of wide field angiography such as wide field indocyanine and fluorescein angiography which may improve course participant s understanding and management of various retinal/choroidal diseases such as central serous retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. Objective 3: Summarize new advancements of OCT that allow a better understanding of retinal anatomy and structure and morphology which may improve insight and understanding of course participant of the various macular diseases such as age related macular degeneration and ischemic disorders of the retina and may also improve therapies. Objective 4: Discuss a multimodal imaging approach to the management of various retinal diseases such as neovascular age related macular degeneration which may improve treatment outcomes and decrease blindness.
7 Target Audience: Ophthalmologists: with an interest in the management of vitreous, retina and macular disease. CME Accreditation: North Shore-LIJ Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.
