1 What is Rhythmic Gymnastics? Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) is a sport in which individuals or teams of competitors (from 2 to 6 people) manipulate one or two apparatus: rope, hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance, and apparatus manipulation. RHYTHMIC NCAP GYMNASTICS NCAP Level 2 Modules 2 & 3
2 BROAD COMPETENCY: Level 2 NCAP courses provide expertise to coach at school and club at basic level. This is the most important area for development of gymnastics. These courses aim to develop practical coaching knowledge and skills for the beginner coach. AIM OF LEVEL 2 NCAP COACHING COURSES: To enable coaches to coach rhythmic gymnastics to participants in a safe, enjoyable and positive sporting environment, and to understand the rules of the National levels and stages under this level in order to teach gymnasts to competitively engage in these levels. ACCREDITATION TITLE: SG NCAP (Technical) Level 2 Rhythmic Artistic Gymnastics Coach PRE-REQUISITES: - Rhythmic Gymnastics Level 1 Coaching Course or Waiver. - Valid First Aid See current Sport Singapore approved list of vendors. POST COURSE REQUIREMENTS: - Technical Assessment (Preparation) - Practical Assessment (Preparation) - Mentored Guidance 10 hours - Document 1 year programme including a macrocycle and an appropriate number of mesocycles ASSESSMENT: incorporating 2-6 microcycles as necessary. - Technical Assessment (Technical Paper) 80% pass mark - Practical Assessment (Presentation & Demonstration with own Gymnasts) 80% pass mark
3 TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL SYLLABUS UNIT 1: PHYSICALCONDITIONING A.STRENGTHEN (back, abdominal, knee and ankle) Learning Outcome (1) Teach basic body strength and flexibility (2) Apply their knowledge of strength and flexibility to the teaching of the difficulties specified in the Singapore Rhythmic National Programmes. Content (1) Describe the techniques used to develop strength and flexibility (2) Demonstrate how strength and flexibility could be used in the development of Jumps, Balances, Pivots and Balances ( BB ) B. FLEXIBILITY (shoulder, chest, waist and Pelvis) (1) Theory on the correct techniques used to develop strength and flexibility UNIT 2: RHYTHMIC ELEMENTS OF JUMPS, FLEXIBILITIES, PIVOTS AND BALANCES On successful completion of this modules the (1) Teach Rhythmic elements by utilizing supportive movements, progressions and drills (2) Teach skill progressions and drills for specific Rhythmic elements (3) Identify and correct errors in technique (1) Describe and justify the supportive movements, progressions and drills for specified elements (2) Describe key coaching points of the supportive movements to the specified elements. (3) Describe how to apply the skill progressions and drills for specified rhythmic elements (4) Demonstrate how to use the correct skill progressions and drills to teach the specified rhythmic elements
4 (1) Justify the supportive movements, progressions and drills for specified elements (2) List key coaching points of the supportive movements to the specified elements. (3) Usage of correct skill progressions and drills to teach the specified rhythmic elements UNIT3: RHYTHMIC APPARATUS (1) list the apparatus fundamentals handling relevant to each Rhythmic apparatus ( rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon ) (1) Describe how the various apparatus mastery elements may be performed with the specified body difficulties (a) Demonstrate how to use the correct progressions and drills to teach specified elements and mastery. (1) List with a grid which illustrates the Apparatus handling which are applicable to each specified rhythmic element UNIT 4: DANCE (1) teach basic components of good posture (1) Describe the errors in technique for posture (2) Describe the basic dance steps that would be appropriate to Rhythmic ( give 3 examples)

UNIT 5: SINGAPORE RHYTHMIC NATIONAL PROGRAMME (1) understand the requirements, routines and deductions under the Singapore Rhythmic levels and stages manual (2) coach the routines under the Singapore Rhythmic levels and stages manual NIL (1) the requirements, routines and deductions under the Singapore Rhythmic levels and stages manual UNIT 6: PLANNING (1) Plan competitive training over1 year using micro and macro cycles. NIL (1) Periodisation (2) Effective Monitoring (Physical & Psychological) (3) Annual Plan
